'You have PM!'
28 September, 2010, 21:05
Why do people feel the need to post in sales threads that they have sent a message to the seller. Some threads are littered with `you have pm` `i call dibs, pmed`. Just clogs it up for every one else that want to read it. Do the people who do this get a issued with a warning/infraction? Because its spam really.

Re: 'You have PM!'
Spam? Why?
It can make the difference between an argument if someone thinks they asked first through pm but the seller looked on the thread first or viceversa.

Re: 'You have PM!'
It is a way of digging up an old thread, so others can then notice it, and beat your sneaky offer.
Makes sense!

Re: 'You have PM!'
This forum is like a flea Market
You see something on an untouched thread you say
Pm sent re item 241
then people kick themselves over bargains missed
and also proves people are Reading threads .
We hate threads about what am bestest rifle and bestest power upgrades
We ignore them as if we kick up a fuss nothing happens
So ignore it

Re: 'You have PM!'
"PM'd" in sales threads is removed, as per the rules. However, if it's something along the lines of "PM'd you with offer/regarding swap/etc then it's allowed. I believe people do it to show they got there first, which of course they may not have...

Because a new PM in their Inbox doesn't?

It also puts you in a list of order if there are several people who are wanting said item just incase a sale falls through.

But what if someone's already PM'd the seller without adding "PM'd" in the thread, surely they're first?

Re: 'You have PM!'
They may well of done - but often the seller doesn't state this and if its in the thread it an easy way of keeping track.

Without antagonising anyone, whats the point of the thread being open once started if you cant put anything in there?

That's simply not true though is it?
You have the 3 day bump, if it's multiple items then you need to say something's been sold, and many ask legitimate questions, just to mention a few

Re: 'You have PM!'
As a seller....
1. It's not who PM's first, it is who can pay first
2.
More importantly
everytime somebody says PM'd or I'll Have This, I then have to update to let everybody know they didn't take it.

This is what i think too mate... the thread should be locked after its setup and you should have to PM any additional info that you want added into each thread to a mod and its got an auto 3 day bump or something.... would stop a lot of congestion on the forum.
