Just a thought?.... a good one at that!
4 November, 2010, 20:53
I was just wondering, shouldnt the person who makes the thread in the classifieds, or any other thread for that matter... but mainly the classifieds lol, be able to close it themselves, therefore saving mods an extra job albeit a small one, and thus eliminating offers on threads that should be closed but mods havent got round to it, ive been recieving offers on things via pm that have been sold, although its nobodys fault doesnt it seem reasonable that the seller can close their own thread?

A good thought it is, but people would still forget to close them... scrubs...

Yeah, they should should have control over messages and rights to edit the OP so they can remove items and not have to list what has gone or is still there.

Re: Just a thought?.... a good one at that!
actually after a wee bit of a think, maybe we could have a system where if you have a certain amount of iTrader feedback at over 80% then you have the privelage to have moderator controls on your own sales/trades threads

The ability to edit the OP has in the past on several forums led to....dodgy business. I think it's best that the OP remains as is, and updates get added. As for the OP being able to close their own post, it can be done as another vBullitin forum I use has that option. But yeah, folk still forget!

Unfortunately, there isn't any way of doing what you said, Sticky.
There is no way of being able to set a forum promotion that associates with Itrader.
I have thought about that feature on our own forum but I'm afraid it doesn't look possible...

Re: Just a thought?.... a good one at that!
I dont agree with being able to change the original post. But maybe the title only. to be able to add in. 'SOLD', then the mods dont have to actually click into the thread to close it... Would make it quicker for the moderators to do their checks.
^^only aplies to the classifieds.

Re: Just a thought?.... a good one at that!
It wouldnt be sensible to allow us to edit our opening posts, as someone could buy something, and then the seller only sends 1 part of it, or sends the item broken, he then changes his OP and says it was sold like that...
As for being able to close our own threads and change the title, I agree with both, It's how most other forums do it. And I can't see a reason not to do it here...But as always I could be wrong.
I will be at the NAE 27th-30th August and replies to messages may be slow, bear with me!

Re: Just a thought?.... a good one at that!
No editing the OP was not my suggestion, i agree with the title and locking function, it works on every other forum so why not here?
Mods please read and consider, maybe even enforce it, would be great.

Re: Just a thought?.... a good one at that!
yeah of course, but due to mods not being super human (although seemingly lol) the thread was open for a few hours till checked and closed, if we had a close button it would solve the issues
