Sub-categories to make things more efficient.
30 December, 2010, 11:47
I can't be the only one who thinks shifting through 15000 posts trying to find photos of peoples guns is a viable option in the gun photo thread. If they want to tidy it up with there latest tactics, make 10+ sub cats with guns, i.e. m4, g36, mp5 blah blah. Bit of work for one of you mods to be getting on with. That will make it 50x better, as I want to look through it for a bit gun porn. But I aint fishing through 15000+ posts to find a certain type of gun which defies the point of it being there.
Is this not an idea that's possibly pretty top notch to make things more efficient and easy running?
I suppose this will be removed and i'll get a warning, but I genuinely think it will work.

Well the Picture thread is now in its own sub-forum, so I'm sure we can improve it even more.

Funny you start this thread and the changes have already been done! :D

I know! I was just about to ask why I couldn't post on the Picture thread, and then Rampage explained how to use it ect.

+1 for separate categories. Current singular thread is awful to use.

Re: Sub-categories to make things more efficient.
I hope the new section will work for you. I don't want to create separate categories as yet, simply allow for the creation of your own gun threads. That way the first post should always be a photo of that gun, and the other posts will pretty much be people commenting on it.

Oh wait, so it's pics of your
own
gun?? Wouldn't it be better to have just single threads for each family of weapons?
I sense proliferation.

Re: Sub-categories to make things more efficient.
You would still end up with the same problem as the original thread of having to sprawl through many post comments and pictures just to find a setup you wanted.
Creating your own thread about your gun allows for pictures to always be at the top and easy identification of weapon using thread titles.

Re: Sub-categories to make things more efficient.
I kinda get your intentions but the forum's search limitation (min 4x characters) will make collating all the threads a real bind when searching for L85, MP5, M4 etc. I would personally prefer image threads for each family of weapons in one sub-forum. So much better.
Members already post threads of the "hey look at my new..." variety. We need dedicated, separate picture threads.

Re: Sub-categories to make things more efficient.
This will do for now, as I said it is a trial, if it doesn't work, or gets too complicated, then I can simply merge them all back into the pics of guns thread.
