Involuntary Subscriptions to threads

Hi everyone and mods, I keep automatically subscribing to threads whenever I make a post, resulting in numerous email messages saying "there have been x posts in the thread..." Does anyone know how to cancel this feature and the subscriptions?

Your profile - Customise profile - Edit options - Default Thread Subscription Mode

"When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread."

Default Thread Subscription Mode:

Do not subscribe
