As i was adding my inane contributions to the General discussions section, i had a thought..

A while back i used to Mod or a very big MX forum, one of the sections was called 'Rejects' it was purely for laughs, steam rooming, and general stupidity.

The access was over 18 only to protect little ears, and kept all the ridiculous in one place, which actually assisted the mods with random clean ups as it all went in the same place. The mods of the section were main contributors and did the cleaning themselves. The rules were the same as the rest of the forum but concenrated on the social side of the forum itself.

Soo whatcha think? we could name it the Med Centre or Guardroom, something like that, id happily help modding it.

controlled access, just like they do on the gun sales section..

It would be difficult to round up all the under 18's. We have had this before trying to tag them to help people not to accidentally sell them weapons. The mods do tag them as and when they get proof from complaints but for obvious reasons they do not volunteer the fact.

Most forum's have an over 18's section but all the other (Car) forums I am on generally don't attract so many children.

If this could be sorted then I'm all for the idea.

I'd also like a section for people to have a whinge and rant in - then I could avoid it like the plague

You put in you DOB when you register, if you lie on that then its you at fault and no the forum.

Also the Over 18 only plastered on it and also a terms maybe just to cover the forums arse.

The complaints section could be called the med centre lol

This has been brought up in the mod zone and the answer in the past has been that while steam threads are OK as they can only be started by mods and are, therefore, always watched, having a section for them risks it being un-modded at certain times of day.

It wouldn't look good for the owners of the forum if something extra-controversial came up, and was left for a while, only to be picked up by the press. Some of the newspapers would love to see airsoft banned after all.

I'll leave the thread up though until it's been seen by Rampage etc as it's always possible that someone may see a solution that would be acceptable, but don't hold your breath!

No fair point, and to be honest 'steam room' could still be covered by the same rules, its more for the other less offensive 'stupidity and fun' like numberwang, 3 word story etc as i said, concentrating on the social side of a forum, MXTrax 'Rejects' even banned the talk of MX in that section but yet it still have the highest hit and contribution rate of the rest bar maybe one other area..

Again another fair point, however ill admit i even feel a little guarded in what im saying when adding to things there because some innocent could stumble on it. Of course i still do it went that guilt thing goes away after a second or 2..

Its just a centre of mass for a laugh, its clear there would be a lot of users who'd use it. Maybe have a quick shoot over to MXtrax to see what i'm on about...

The main problem I can see from my point of view is that to have an over-18's section would involve some form of age checks. They've already said they don't want to get into the bureaucracy and work-load of that. Without checks, every 12 year old would just say that they're 18 (a bit like they do at the moment if they want to buy guns!).

Does the fact they state age cover the forum, if they lie its on them?

I mean the o18 thing isnt a huge deal as the section wouldnt still have to follow forum rules, just allow rambling games etc

Its not going to contain overuse of bad language or hardcore porn (unless you say we can)
