Sales graveyard. Mark as sold?
23 June, 2011, 13:22
Hi just a question for the mods. Can't they put a feature in that allows people to close and delete their thread or move it to a sales graveyard if the item is sold because i look at so many pistols etc only to see their sold!

Re: Sales graveyard. Mark as sold?
Wrong section should be in Forum Feedback. Also people can close their own sale threads, well lock them at least. just click "Thread Tools" and click "Lock Thread"

Re: Sales graveyard. Mark as sold?
Would be nice if people did actually close them or at least have the decency to reply to your PMs!

Re: Sales graveyard. Mark as sold?
That requires people to actually do that strange thing of 'reading the forum rules and stickies'.!?
I doubt this thread would have been started had the OP read them correctly as well as it does state the thread opener closes their own sales thread.
section 24 of the 1968 Act
Supplying imitation firearms to minors
1)It is an offence for a person under the age of eighteen to purchase an imitation firearm
2)It is an offence to sell an imitation firearm to a person under the age of eighteen.

Re: Sales graveyard. Mark as sold?
I swear the OPs question has been completely ignored? From what I understand, a thread being closed doesn't stop you from being able to view it... He is saying that wouldn't it be better if we had a system that actually deletes those threads, or allows you to move them to a "sales graveyard"...

Re: Sales graveyard. Mark as sold?
At least 50% of the open threads have a last post that states
withdrawn/swapped/sold....MODS please close.
I dont sell on the forums but I do know that sellers have to close their own threads
not counting the open threads where the seller wont reply to PMs even though there is no post withdrawing it from sale
And we are adressing the OP !!
If I'm browsing for bargins I dont bother with the CLOSED threads as I know they are UNAVAILABLE FOR SALE !!
But its nice to read the odd closed thread to get an Idea of how much things are worth these days

I don't see your point, A locked thread is a sold item
Also what about if sales go wrong and the buyer wants to check the original sale thread, If it has been deleted then no luck! I like the system now, only thing I would change it that people closed their own threads and that there was a way to see if threads were locked without having to open them.

Don't think it's anywhere near 50% but we do get a lot where people don't know they can close their own threads. We bump the notification from time to time but as with most things, it gets ignored. I mean, after all, this thread isn't even in the right place

No, it doesn't stop you from being able to view it, but at least people know a closed thread means sold. Sold threads remain in place for (I believe) 4 weeks before being moved off. Simply deleting them would be stupid, as if a deal goes sour, there's the original thread for reference.
