pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
20 January, 2012, 23:36
browsing thru the classifieds recently i've noticed how many people don't (bother) adding pictures of what they're selling.
i know this will have been raised before, but it's really got on my t!ts lately
people who put "will post up later", but 3 days later still haven't managed it!
or just because something is a pretty standard item, they just put, "picture can be sent if necessary"
or "can email pic" - if you have a pic that's emailable, why not post it in the thread?!!!
or "google it"
or any of the other BS excuses!
winds me up
personally, i want to see a clear picture of the actual item - it's not difficult
threads without pics (or direct links to) should be deleted imo
rant over. feel free to disagree tho

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
I agree, it does irritate me as well.
You get these sales threads, a lot of them with poor spelling and no picture, "its in good condition innit" sort of comments. Doesn't really inspire confidence in the seller or item.
A good number of people who can't even be bothered to follow the template either.
I don't think the picture should be mandatory, sometimes people just can't get pictures for legitimate reasons, but there definitely needs to be some way to encourage their use.

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
It particularly irritates me when dealing with higher end kit, I've seen some people selling gear for £250+ who can't be bothered to upload a picture, not being funny but before I give anyone £250 odd quid I'm gonna want to see what i'm buying.

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
Fair enough but I'd suggest that when selling a "custom systema PTW" at the thick end of £1500 then maybe a photo or 2 might be in order.......
I mean christ I'm not the most net savvy man on the forums but I can manage to put photos with my sales.

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
it's equally annoying when you have a picture and then at the bottom of the listing it states "doesn't include the red-dot, afg, ris rails etc". why not take a picture of the gun that you're actually selling? if you're stripping all the accessories off to sell it, then show it as it will look

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
I nearly always post photos, but it has become more difficult lately as my photo hosting site has been down for months. I use to just hotlink to my photos, which meant that I could copy and paste ads over all the forums in minutes. Now I have to upload each image seperately to each site. If you are selling something in truly new condition that is a pain in the arse and a lot easier to say "pm me with your email address if you need a photo".

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
ive always used pics.they help sell an item.
if i see an ad and i click on it (coz im interested) but it has no pics, then i move from it.i dont email for pics.
not uploading pics (in my opinion) is lazy, and if a person cant be bothered to stick a picture on the ad,then what will they be like to deal with once youve paid you cash.
also pics can be a help in fruad.ive seen threads where somone has used someone elses pictures, when this was pointed out,it turned out that the person didnt actually have the item that was in the pictures.
i dont have lightning fast internet, but can still upload a picture.sometimes zeroin is a bit slow but its still easily done.

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
So therefore people who don't put-up photos are automatically untrustworthy?
If I wasn't such a computer retard than I would put pics up but I don't and haven't had any complaints about the items I have sold here.
If you're that bothered about lack of photos then don't buy it.
At the same time it's not that hard for you to send an email address and then check your email account is it?

Re: pictures in sales thread (the lack of)
what i also find funny is that some people dont post a pic of their item, and give a link to photobucket instead.......makes me wonder,if the person is a total retard...
i just think 99% of the time its just fecking lazyness...like a lot of people on here, who cant be bothered to read stickies, or threads all the way through, or use the search button or even google, they would rather other people spoon feed them, im sure if they could get away with it,they would still want their mothers to wipe their ar$e...sometimes i wish they would just

This would be the best solution, but as you say, it isn't going to happen

actually read my post! where does it say automatically untrustworthy???...it doesnt does it,so stop trying to twist what i say.
and as ive already put ( in the post you clearly havent read) that i move from an ad post with no pics....hence i dont buy whats advertised.
