Spray painting gear?
15 November, 2009, 23:17
So...
I've been thinking if spray paiting gear (specifically a vest) would work.
My issue is, the plate carrier i've bought is next to flourescent!
Would really like to darken it. I feel abit silly not going for the olive drab version, but what's done is done.
I've left it outside in a bush, what that'll do to it I don't know. Probably make it very wet and not much els
. But hopefully it'll darken after a couple days.
But any tips on making it darker? Painting it came to mind, but I don't know if it'll work.
Some of you must of been in my situation before.
Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks.

Get some stone dust or wet sandy dirt and rub it in mate.
Makes it look worn and good

Re: Spray painting gear?
Same as the above, hard use will darken it.
I've not done it myself, but spraying your gear can work. Although, actual use looks so much better! Look up Spetz'Dave on here, he recently sprayed an Arktis vest which came out pretty decent. I'm sure he could offer you some pointers
Does not speak moron.

Re: Spray painting gear?
As asked, spray painted f*cked up rig... :D
I sprayed it very heavily then left it outside for a bit. Any paint you do put on it will 90% flake off over the first few skirmished you wear it in, but any that stays will leave traces and I find add a nice bit of wear and tear and lose that 'new' feeling. Mines all blended in nicely now, I likes it a lot. Ive got it up for sale as was going to go back to molle but not really sure now...
