Chinook pilot look?
30 November, 2009, 19:24
Thinking of doing a Chinook pilot look in a few months, as it's pretty original! Have some ideas:
RAF OD Flight Suit
ARES L85A2 Carbine
Maps of Afghanistan in the pockets and such?
However, what kind of plate carrier/vest do they wear if shot down, and what kind of helmet could I pick up?

Re: Chinook pilot look?
Err, I'm not minisnipa. Chinook pilots carry maps of Afghanistan while flying, even state of the art gear can fail. I'd ask my mate what he uses, but he's off training at the moment.
Edit: Maybe I wasn't clear enough. In the knee pad pockets in particular.

Re: Chinook pilot look?
Wasnt even minisnipa it was sniperian get your facts straight people.
If your wanting to do chinook pilot then you have the issue of headgear, do you want to shell out on a helmet or do you want to look like youve been to a top gun party
Vest wise they would have some kind of emergency vest/harness with stuff in which are illegal to obtain
So really there arent many options

Re: Chinook pilot look?
How much would I be expected to shell out for a proper helmet?

osprey? or CBA? with sig on drop leg. or one of those really small plate carriers that just hold plates sort of like this with one or two mag pouches and a pistol pouch

Re: Chinook pilot look?
I also thought about a similar load out but with the pilot from black hawk down, I found it ended up being more problems then it was worth though tbh.

Re: Chinook pilot look?
Been looking at picture because im nice like that.
What i can see so far is that the vest they would wear would go over body armour and they would then carry a rifle and pistol as well as EDC (Emergency defence carry) knife, they would ditch the vest since its useless and so far i havnt seen any survival vests.

Yes they will. and to be frank in ASTAN they wear ddpms now to make them look like ordinary soldiers. because the taliban kill or torture on site any suspected heli pilots. so they would ditch there helmet. throw on an assualt vest or have mag pouches with a canny bit off ammo and tab to the nearest point of saftey with there L22a2 AFVs rather than L85a2s Expecting a fight
