New British army Camo, MTP
Seems the British Army is getting a new camo pattern called MTP (Multi Terrain Pattern). Being rolled out March next year. Basically a slightly different varient of Multi-cam.

Take a look see.

I guess that's because it was developed by Crye and based on Multicam :P

Yes yes but it would have been wrong of me to call it Multicam as technically its not!

Re: New British army Camo, MTP
I have seen a Infantry report that says that they would be getting a new camo type for Helmet covers and body armour so as not to need different versions for different operational theatres but I cant remember them saying it would be for the S95 as well but obviously the have decided that the Toms were flaging behind the yanks in terms of modern kit.
New Plate Carriers, Helmets, Camo, Rifles (well sort of), kit. Looks like they have decided to bring the British Army into the 21st century.

It does, and the army chap pretty much said the same thing:
It many not be quite perfect, but its good enough for everything
NOT PERFECT? I can see the Multicam geardos forming a lynch mob as we speak :p

Re: British army to get Multicam
Looking more deeply at this, we are moving away from the old "cold war" theatres and getting ready for a very long haul in Afghanstan.
It also looks like the MOD trying to save money by having one "multicam" for all environments...Not sure this is a good idea.

Long haul? I thought Obarmy said recently that the US are aiming to begin withdrawal in 2011? Are we going it alone until 2040?

Well, they did say they'd keep the DDPM for now and I do agree with what they said in that Afghanistan is quite a varied environment. I think it's been fairly obvious we're going to be in there for the long haul, I suspect this new camo has been in the pipeline for some time.

Re: British army to get Multicam
What politicians say and do are not always the same.
It may be that some time in the future we are told "plans have had to be reviewed in light of changed events"...or something of the like.
I do hope I am completely wrong here.....just looking at where the money is going as an indicator of true policy.
Even if it's been in the pipeline for a long time now, they could always have put it on hold if we are coming out of Afghagnistan soon.
However, it may just be that the MOD is starting to give the troops more of what they need on the ground right now.

Re: British army to get Multicam
I think this is part of the PECOC programme.
I think it's a shame because DPM is fantastic. I love it. Looks smart too. Very distinctive.
But ofcourse, the British Army has to modernise...
- well. Eventually.
