MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
3 January, 2010, 21:08
Anyone heard of this yet?
As reported by the BBC, MTP is the new camo that the British Armed Forces will be adopting this year...
What are people's thoughts? I assume that with the huge diversity in airsofters' choices of camo that the new MTP will not be massively popular straight away but I'm sure there will be atleast a few patriotic players that will want it almost immediately. So, with that in mind... does anyone know where I can get some??? :p

Yep, join up and get deployed to Afghanistan and wait a while, seeing as it hasn't even been issued yet
Oh, and there was a thread about it here (only a few threads down):

Re: MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
My apologies for multiposting. Having done some research, I've come to the conclusion that it might be a bag of s$£! for airsofting anyway as it seems to be only 'good' if you're operating in different terrains (yes i also realise that is somewhat stating the obvious considering the title, but i've just found out about it and though i'd ask the regulars on their opinions...). Whereas DMP seems to perform much better in singular terrains and since I don't believe that there are any desert AND woodland skirmishing sights in the UK there seems to be really little point changing to something that's less effective...

Don't let the Multicam geardos hear you say that, they'll all be crying into their Crye chassis

Re: MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
Yea, I'd heard about it looked up on it. Frankly I think its ugly. Its gonna be made in China and was turned down by the US. Seems to be another example of the goverments spending cuts, so then they dont have to buy 2 different coloured sets of all the kit. I think the regular woodland DPM is better, my whole loadouts pure DPM.

Re: MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
Yup, cutting down on spending by developing a new camo. Plus it's not even going to replace DDPM.
The US only turned down multicam on cost by the way. If you look, it was pretty much the top in most the field tests conducted.
Ofcourse if you rather, we could all go ACU? lol

Re: MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
Again I know this has been posted before but, even according to the guy talking on the video; the multicam isn't as good as DPM in the individual terrains.

Surely this means then that british forces that operate in environments not just prodominantly but purely of one terrain type are risking being compromised because of the shoddy camo they've been issued with??? Slightly off the topic of airsofting lol, again my apologies.

Thing is, they're not, as it's not replacing DDPM for use in Iraq as JAG already said, and as we're not actually fighting in woodland/forest at the moment (or foreseeable future), there's no requirement for DPM.

Re: MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
So does that mean that the old DPM might be hung on to because as war hungary as our goverment is surely there will be another point where we are fighting in woodland.
P.S. hopefully this won't turn in to a political debate.

Re: MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
But the issue was raised of DPM still better for some areas of deployment, such as the Falklans. Sat next to a group of squadies on the train yesterday who were heading off there today.
But yes, as DPM was developed for northen europe it will always be the best thing for most woodland in the UK.

Re: MTP Multi Terrain Pattern...???
I'm sure it it kicked off somewhere with dense woodland, they'd find some good old DPM from somewhere, there's plenty of it about
