Hand washing, it's the way forward.

I suppose that would work,

But I haven't the time or effort

I used to use washing powder with no brighteners for my US digital and that seemed to work

Well the next best thing is to use the 'hand wash' setting on your machine, that's the best compromise between time saving and maintenance of your expensive uniforms. Find a setting that's very short/quick, 30 degrees at the most, no excess rinsing or spinning. Turn things inside-out before the wash and use the right type of powder, I think I've been using 'colours' stuff that's specifically meant to look after the dye in the clothes, and only small amounts since the short/cool wash doesn't dissolve it as well.

Been doing that on my gear for a little while now, including my Propper ATACS-FG combat shirt, seems to work pretty nicely. Everything comes out just as clean and fresh as when I used to just bung stuff in at 60 deg/1.5 hours standard wash settings.

At last it is all assembled.. Lighting is a bit crap, but this setup adds about 2 inches to my height, thus can't avoid any light fitting in the house.

Instead of starting a new thread, I shall resurrect this somewhat ancient one. Slight update to my kit, with a drastically better photo than last time:



My old DCS is pretty much consigned to be a pretty thing hanging off the wall to look at, as it is positively tiny on me. So went for a RICAS Compact instead, and this is by no means finished either. However that will have to wait for a bit; for this month, my funds are completely snuffawed.
