New Comms/Helmet set up

I normally dont use face protection as i find it gets uncomfortable when i had a hat, bowman headset and the face mask all straped around my head. It was even worse when i tried to wear my Fast helmet.

SO....i set about fixing the issues. Having a £60 helmet sat in my kit bag was bugging me so i looked into a way of fixing my mesh face mask to it to take the tension of my head.

this is what i cam up with:





sumple bit of elastic, taped up untill i can get it sown up with elastic thread.

And picked up a new Z-Tactical Comtac 2 headset




all together






Is VERY comfortable and even worked with the old bowman all day yesterday at The Depot.

I done a similar thing with my carbon mask, but changed it back recently...
As mine has two straps...

I may well get arc rails and also then mess around with the straps again..

The bit you have attached them to is used to attach gas masks too... Least thats what ive seen

Quick question, where did you get the straps from?

I might follow your design and get mine like yours...

How i had it there was slightly to many straps for my liking!!!

Its just some elastic form Sainsburys. I will be sewing it together with some elastic tread but for now the tape worked just fine!

If you used a set of headphone arc adapters would take more pressure off your head. Like the mask though might see if I can find something like that I like. Nice setup .

The headband on the comtacs seems far better than the elastic band from bowman. It also make the helmet sit better. Been wearing around the house, much to my daughters amusement, and not got any issues so far!

Ive just ordered new head sordin pads from ebay, as i found might would be uncomfortable after a few hours.

Hopefully this will resolve this, if not ill ger arc adapters.
also bought some elastic band...

Will have a go at the weekend!

This is a bit of a tangent, but how do you find the Z-tac Comtac? I'd love to own Comtac's but the real version are way too expensive to justify and from reading reviews on the Z-tac's they aren't made out to be particularly reliable/good quality

Oh really? I've seen a few reviews say that it's pretty much down to luck of the draw (one claimed only 1 in 4 work)

Its a fast bump helmet, same basically as the ballistic helmet but with holes in the top. And the mask you can finds loads on a certain bidding site lol.

As said it is an Fast base jump helmet in Tan with snake skin camo paint job. The mask was a cheapo auction site job that i have modded to fit the rail attachments on the helmet. Very happy with the over all set up even better it cost me total of £53!
