lazor pen same as red dot?
8 February, 2010, 15:40
Hi,
This maybe a bit of a dumb question, but is a red dot sight the same as a lazor pen?
I know the red dot sight would be adjustable, but I wouldn't use it for that anyway. I'd use it to point out the enemy to my teammates.
Could I use it for this, and are they basicly the same thing?
Thanks for the info,
Paul.

A red dot sight is a sight that is put on yop of a gun. Do you mean a laser?

Re: lazor pen same as red dot?
a laser pointer/pen probably wont be bright enough to use as a laser sight
proper laser sights can be seen even in bright daylight
i think you have "red dot sight" and "laser sight" muddled up..
a laser sight is :
and a red dot is :

Re: lazor pen same as red dot?
Uhh, yea, I guess I might be in a muckin fuddle, I'd like a red dot I can place on an enemy target that my teammates will be able to see without looking through my sight. (If that makes sense)
Would a laser pen not be bright enough for that?

Re: lazor pen same as red dot?
theyre not really dangerous to your eyes if you get a proper one with ir filtering.
at 1mw it would take upwards of 1000 seconds to do permanant damage to a retna and 250 seconds to inflict temporary blindness

Re: lazor pen same as red dot?
For a dot to put on your enemy for the team, use something like the LXGD green dot lasers. To be honest in airsoft, lasers are only for show and useful in CQB/night games, in woodland too much risk of hitting someone in the eye with it or the beam hitting a tree or something else. To be fair just use good communication and you will come out on top, communication is the key in any team sport, good commands and relaying of positions will point out most enemy combatants.
