A bit of an odd request.. but i am have a ГП-5 russian spetznaz gas mask and i wanted to know if there was a way to change the lenses to mesh so they dont fog up and provide good protection.

    Re: Mesh gask mask

yeah i have done that with my s6 gas mask
just take the mesh out of a normal mask cut it to the correct size
take the screw out of the clamp that holds the lenses in place
and then just slide the mesh into the rubber seals
you can leave the mesh slightly bigger than the fit to create a good seal around the edges
(you might also want to take the stuff out of the filter as it is sometimes hard to breath when running)

you can pm for pics or further info -
    cheers
    chris :D

      Re: Mesh gask mask

I have removed the filter parts as it is very awkward to breath but what is the cheapest mesh mask that can be bought?

You will have to look about for cheap masks - what i did was asked my site owner did he have any broken masks lying about and just took the mesh off that - cheap solution.

On my s6 gas mask the lenses were more than enough to stop a bb - most off the gas mask hav ballistic protection lenses anyway - best way to test it is shoot it will your most powerful gun, point blank, but i would recommend switching to mesh as you can breath better and it dosnt fog up.

Gas masks are designed not to fog because they would be completely useless if they did...

I will see what the lenses are like and go from there also would it count as a full face mask?

                      Re: Mesh gask mask

I would imagine it would count as full face but make sure you check with your site owner

Also dont do a cheap or half arsed job- your eyes are the only thing you have to protect in airsoft, its the one thing that you really shouldnt skimp out on. Make sure the mesh is high quality and well secure- you dont want to loose an eye.
When i was playing at the Ground zero weekender a guy next to me wearing a gas mask was shot across the face and his mesh lenses just fell out, so be careful

if the lenses it comes with, stops a bb with no damage marks i may use as it is.

What you could do is cut the mesh out to slightly larger than the lenses of the mask, heat up the mesh and then melt it into the rubber of the mask as well as apply araldite/superglue (though Id do this in a well ventilated area).
