      Re: Advice For Kit.

Still single? Bugger. I've been happily married for three years. (1994, 1996 and 2003.) The other seventeen more habitually married.
Seriously, please write more. This stuff might seem like rambling to you, but it's genuinely interesting, and well written. It's a subject I know very little about - I knew a lot of blokes left to work as contractors post 2003, but as a 22 year man, I stayed for my pension , and don't have the skillset or mindset for running around the cuds. Tragically, I'm also very aware that there were a lot of Mickey Mouse units set up, almost overnight to get in on the State Dept's free for all - one mate lost his leg working for one in 2006. Another LC mate of mine (Dom M**) has set up a fairly successful Maritime Security Firm. Still not tempted though!
Looking forward to your next instalment. (and pm me the single one's number)
Any opinions expressed by me may not be mine. I don't have opinions anymore. I have a mortgage and teenagers. I used to be a wild, party animal. Now I buy my trousers at M & S.

        Re: Advice For Kit.

Well I'm glad you guys have found it helpful and/or interesting.
Actually I rather enjoyed digging it all out and putting it down. For some obscure reason.

I don't know what else to say really and this is ATS's thread and I don't really want to hijack it.
If you know what I mean.

So I guess I'll leave it up to anyone out there who has any questions about the "Circuit" as some folk call it.
You can make the questions as abrasive, sharp or as personal as you like. Not bothered at all.
If I feel that don't want to answer it I'll just politely decline.
It can be about anything, kit, clothing, weapons, team composition, drills or TTP's. Anything.

Yeah Hawke, getting that pension is in my opinion the best thing I did.
        A good move for anyone.
Got out in 2004 and the pension is very reassuring.
Because it will be there for the rest of our lives,
and as we have all seen the "Pop-Star Wages" was a short lived thing.

By the way, I've noticed that after I had a juggle around on my photo hosting website all the pics from my first post have gone.
Can anyone tell me how to edit the post so that I can put them up again?

I'm just trying to get that NATO 9 Line CASEVAC report to paste successfully onto a post and then anyone who really wants to rock the Iraqi/Afghan Operative vibe can add a little touch of authenticity to it with that wallet I was on about. Or the "Grab Bag".

          Re: Advice For Kit.

Oh no please don't stop on my account, I'm glad I managed to dig something up and I would love to read more and it's quite obvious everyone else would too.
You've answered all my questions and more and should I think of anything else I'd love to ask, but to be fair it's evidently clear you have the best/most experience and knowledge of this subject.
So think of it less of hijacking rather, commandeering the thread.

            Re: Advice For Kit.

This is the NATO 9 Line Medevac report adapted for use in Iraq.
If anyone wanted one they'd just knock one up on there PC and print it off.
I put one in each of the vehicle med kits and it'd be something you keep in your note book or your ID card wallet.

So after any contact where there may be casualties and you need extraction you may be asked for this report.
I know for sure, where we could expect the US Army to bail us out that they wouldn't leave base until they'd got the first five lines.
Anything else could be updated en route.

So the report would go something like this.

One ... between spot 47 and spot 52.

            Nine ...
Approach from east via Spot 52
            along Route "Bugle".
Moderate civilian traffic congestion on Westbound carriageway.

and then just wait for the cavalry.
