How To- Inner Tube Helmet Band
21 August, 2013, 17:16
Hi guys,
On the forum there seems to be some confusion about what an inner tube helmet band is, so I thought I'd make a how to! These were and still are very popular as squaddies could just pop to the MT to get a popped or punctured one.
Step 1: Get yourself a Land Rover or Bedford 4 tonner inner tube, or NBC boot. NOT a bike one, lawn mower, go kart, etc......
Step 2: Cut the inner tube across to the width you need or the boot across the top. Bear in mind that the
thinner
the band, the
easier
the band is to stretch.
Step 3: Stretch the band across the base of your helmet. Be sure to apply your helmet cover and scrim BEFORE you put the band on. Don't try to stretch the band across yourself, it wont work! Get a mate or a family member to help
.
Step 4: Enjoy your cool new helmet band that smartens up your helmet.
Enjoy, Will
