Here is a real steel silenced L85 for reference.



It is an over barrel silencer but it doesn't go all the way to the handguard

The only over barrel silencer I know of is a lylax one for the VSR and its very rare and expensive and would be miles to long for an L85

Just to be pedantic, H&K's work on the L85A2 was mostly internal with only minor cosmetic changes being cocking handle, mag release surround and on some weapons a new design foreend. Certainly not enough to credit H&K with the "artwork" that is the L85.

Here is how i would do it,

1) Mark on the barrell where it meets up with the handguard.

2) Remove the handguard and proceed to cut through it. (remember to take it inner barrel out)

3) File down any rough edges.

4) Get a "thread die" (14mm, i thinkm unfortunatly i cant rememeber if its CW or CCW) ant tap a thread on that would go under the handguard.

5) make the barrel hole on the handguard bigger as to accomodate the silence through it.

6) put the silencer on and hand guard back on the rifle.

7)Finished

if thats too hard, tape an old loo roll holder to a normal silencer an spray it black.
