  • Radio / PTT Help

    Hi there all.
I'm currently running a (unknown brand) Comtac2 headset and a U-94 style PTT with my Motorola XTN446.
Sadly I think my PTT is on the way out though. I can hear my team fine through it, but can not transmit.

I want to just get a replacement PTT but I need help with identifying what type of connector this is..

My headset has the connector on the right, and my PTT has the left connector.
I'm just at work at the mo so don't have them to hand to take an actual picture, but these are definitely the connectors it has.

Does anyone know the name of these connectors or better yet, where I would find a replacement PTT to fit my headset and Motorola?

    Thanks in advance.

It's definitely the same number of pins is it?

I can't be certain, it's possible that it could be the 5 pin..

      But it's definitely that style!

I'll have to check later when I'm home and post a pic.

      Thanks

        If it's like this:

        It's the Cavalvy PTT

That looks about right to me! Thanks. Any UK retailers that you know of?
          Thanks for the speedy response!

We can't name retailers of course, but Google can.

I'm kind of in the same boat, needing a new PTT for the Cavalvy myself, because I switched radio from a Kenwood to a XTNiD446 and I couldn't find any UK stockists anymore as the headsets are quite old now, and I think I found some for sale on eBay from a HK retailer but it was a few months back, and it was going to be about £40 so didn't bother

Bummer, I thought this might be the case. Sucks because the headset is great. Don't wanna have to buy a new headset and Ptt combo!

              Thanks again for the help.
If I find anything I'll let you know.

              Cheers

I know what you mean. Considered a ZTac but hear mixed reviews on quality, and the Cavalvy has been great.

If you take the headset out, can you transmit to your team ok? Just wondered if it was radio and perhaps not the PTT?

Yea same here. And yup, the radio on its own is just fine.
Found a few after Googling around. Mostly over seas sites. All around the £40 mark.
One UK site, that likes to howl at the moon, but it's out of stock.

For reference, i believe the connectors are known as "Amphenol T" more commonly found on microphones.

They are a pain to source - most of the airsoft clone headsets use the "mil-spec" plug now (a short fat guitar jack). I had a similar issue a while back and ended up just selling the working bits of the old headset on to buy a new set - much sturdier than those 5 pin plugs I find.
