Weighted SAPI plates
31 December, 2014, 14:08
Has anyone tried to weigh down dummy (Airsoft) SAPI plates?
As much as I love my plate carrier I can't help but feel that it'll work best with extra mass in the plates, the shoulder straps don't seem to sit quite right with the lack of weight and the carrier does tend to ride up a little.
I was thinking of drilling a couple of holes in the top of a plastic plate, pour in some lead shot and expanding foam to keep it all in place.
Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Weighted SAPI plates
Don't use expanding foam it will make the plate out of shape.
Drill a small hole at the top, as said by Sia, use a funnel to fill with sand.
Then use a glue gun or similar to seal.

Re: Weighted SAPI plates
Put the plate in a bucket of sand, leaving the top exposed, then drill a hole and fill. Plaster of Paris might do the job.
Reason for submerging in sand is it should prevent the plaster or whatever from making the plates bulge outwards or such.

Re: Weighted SAPI plates
Are you planning to do the real thing ?, or on a serious fitness regime ?.
No, then don't bother, I've seen this done before, usually results in players complaining of back or knee pain, or generally knackered by lunchtime.
If your struggling to get your PC to fit, even with a full compliment of mags & associated kit, then its likely to be an issue with the cut or quality of the PC, or maybe its a model that's not suited to your body shape.
(No offence intended)
IMHO

Will be interested to see how the sand works out as I need to weight mine down to try and get the 'look' right.
