Backpack advice
17 January, 2015, 07:39
Hey guys,
I am looking for some advice on backpacks for 1-2 day events.
Curious to see what you guys use? It will need to carry two sets of clothing, food, spare batteries, bb's. Looking for a compact CB pack. Any tips and recommendations are welcome.

Re: Backpack advice
What is your budget? Sounds like you need a Bergan rather than a daysack.

Re: Backpack advice
You want something about 50 litres Max, packs are like molle, if you've got space you fill it, so you'll end up lugging unnecessary kit around.
I've got a spec ops t.h.e. pack, great kit but not too big, but has molle outside so I can slap a pouch on where needed for mid game kit, batts/first aid etc, so its easier to get to rather than rooting around in main pack.

Re: Backpack advice
Have a look at the 5.11 rush range , I have three of them in diffrent sizes ; I've got the Moab 6 and 10 and a rush 24 (there sized by estimated hr usage NOT ltr capacity ) the 6 is my day to day carry all the time bag the 10 is for away from home all day and the 24's for over night (though it'll hold a lot more than just 24hrs need) . They've got pockets every were , molle all over them and best thing is they come with a strap system that allows you to attach them to each other to expand the carry size . Only negative I'd say is the packs are a little heavy but when you look at the quality of the material/manufacture and all the details that go in to them you understand why and certainly let that point go ! Absolutely cracking packs .

Re: Backpack advice
I personally use a Camelback Motherlode or a Karrimor Sabre SF 45 for work.
Both are not too big/ bulky yet will still easily carry what you'll need for 2 days.

Re: Backpack advice
I use a Grey Ghost Gear Legacy 3-Day assault pack or a 5.11 RUSH72. I much prefer the 5.11 RUSH72 so it gets the most outings. Excellent bag with amazing functionality and thoughtful design.

Re: Backpack advice
5.11, camelback, Spec Ops, & dont forget Maxpedition or Hazard4, all great mission oriented kit BBUUUUTTTT also all very expensive when bought new, even secondhand on a well known auction site the prices sometimes climb to silly heights, so you need to ask yourself whats justifiable to you, or hunt for a bargain on a lesser known brand...........take your time, dont rush in & something like what you want will pop up.

Re: Backpack advice
Warrior is good kit or if you want something a bit cheaper look at the Condor 3 Day.

Re: Backpack advice
I'm also in the market for a new pack, I've had a 5.11 rush 12 before but this time want something a little bigger. After a fair bit of research I've decided on the Hazard 4 Dragons Egg (30litre). Not sure about the name but the pack looks fantastic.

Re: Backpack advice
You mean the Direct Action Dragon Egg I think? Retails for about £95.
The equivalent Hazard 4 pack will set you back about double that
OP for your 2 day games, will you need to carry sleeping kit? If you're going to need to carry a sleeping bag for cold nights, it's going to take up a bit of space
