Re: Political Correctness in doing certain loadouts
Would anyone object to me portraying the EOKA circa 58?

Re: Political Correctness in doing certain loadouts
If I remember, are we not playing a sport called Airsoft. As a Irishman and a catholic I could not careless if you try to portray an IRA militant/freedom fighter, or any so called bad/nasty figure of the past.
Where I play, you would be seen as dude and someone who uses a tactical spoon/toilet roll holder etc, on his gun. Airsoft is fully about fun and your ability to express yourself. Which is why there are many different types of weapons used in the game.
You don't see people moaning that someone is using a typical German/Russian weapon, in fact you are looked at as a cool someone.
Perhaps maybe tone down the full feel of the code, but you go for it.
Remember this, there are many films made using realistic uniforms, no one bats an eye lid. We Britain's are famous for taking the "P" out of irony.

Yes a fair few atrocities were linked to them but I think it safe to say prity much 90% (if not more) of the population wouldn't have a scooby who your talking about and they didn't directly affect the UK so bit of a mute point really .

I remember there were a group of Japanese airsofters that blacked themselves up to play enemy force in a Black Hawk Down scenario - that was regarded as a bit of an outrage at the time!

For the people who believe this is a sensitive issue...
Have you ever shot at people dressed as British soldiers?

I guess as long as you keep it plain and non-affiliated to any specific groups, along with respecting any traditional piece of clothing that could cause a bit of hoo har then I don't see any problem at all.
As far as I'm concerned this absolutely nails it. Airsoft is fundamentally about Team A versus Team B (possible interaction of Teams C and D depending on budget and attendance). It is
irrelevant
what clothes the various teams wear so long as they can be distinguished and therefore there is
no need
for people to start trying to copy specific groups that they know will get other peoples' backs up. Look at the number of skirmishes that are very successfully played as Red vs. Blue and tell me that if you're not allowed to wear
Totenkopf
the game won't be a success.
This goes not just for the ones that are controversial for everybody (Nazis, terrorists) but the ones that are controversial to the people who know about them (e.g. the
VRS
, or the Ustaše, or the LRA). You stand a high chance of pissing off another paying player for no good reason whatsoever, especially because there are generic alternatives that are largely inoffensive.

Airsoft, where shooting projectiles at women and children is deemed ok but dressing as a bad guy is frowned upon.......
section 24 of the 1968 Act
Supplying imitation firearms to minors
1)It is an offence for a person under the age of eighteen to purchase an imitation firearm
2)It is an offence to sell an imitation firearm to a person under the age of eighteen.

Re: Political Correctness in doing certain loadouts
I once snuck up behind a group of about a dozen of the other team at The Mall who were all bunched up trying to hide behind the same barricade, could have shot a few, or tried to sneakily knife kill a few. But I decided the best choice would be to pull out my impact BFG, scream ALLAHU ACKBAR and drop it at my feet right behind all of them.
Hilarious? Absolutely. Politically incorrect? Very And yet nobody complained.
As long as youre not being out and out racist, or blatantly untasteful loadouts (See Waffen SS), generally people dont have a problem with it.
Besides an "IRA loudout" is essentially just any one of a million "generic rebel" looks. As long as youre not going around shouting PADDY POWER DEATH TO ENGLISH BASTARDS and nailbombing schools itll be fine.
