Cobra MT 975 help

Hey there

me and few friends are getting some Cobra MT 975. And we want some headsets/Throat mic's. Ive had a look on ebay and it think the 975's use a Single pin 2.5mm jack?. Can i use any throat mic which has a 2.5mm jack? as i have heard even if they fit they sometimes dont work.
