Get what you can afford. The end of the day, its all well and good buying the whole set up, but if you cant afford to play any games until next month then whats the point??
Ive got brit dpm and ddpm (many many sets...) and ACU. ACU for urban, dpm or ddpm for woodland. Ive found that at this time of year desert patterns work well because of all the dead brown foliage. Couple that with a RICAS or CIRAS, or a warrior rig, and your laughing. The rigs can be picked up cheap on the forums, and desert dpm is kicking about the place all the time.
Remember that the most expensive items are going to be boots and the rig, so price them up first, and see what is left in your price range. Multisham is ok, and im looking at getting a set, once i find somewhere to store it, but its one of those ones that can look daft on some people...like me! lol.
Anyway, dpm has done the SAS good, and their choice of weapon is M16/M4 the majority of the time. They dont seem to mind...
Yeah theres loads of people who wear it, but its because its cheap, readily available, and if you rip it or wreck it, you havent thrown good money down the drain on something that will be hard to replace. A set of combats is 15 quid.
Alternativly, go merc, and go for the dpm smock or a black north face jacket with hiking trousers or cargo trousers. Or even stretch to desert trousers and black fleece jumper. Ive pulled that one off before with an old NI chest rig of mine.
So the choice is yours! Just have a look on 'tinternet and see what takes your fancy!

Also, DPM actually works whereas the guys in ACU seem to stand out. No point looking cool if you just keep getting shot.
