  • Congress orders ACU to be ditched

That's right folks, it would seem the very unconvincing camo pattern has been viewed as flawed by congress and has ordered the army to replace it, I think there will be more than a few players upset to find out the time and effort not to mention money they have put into creating the look of the current US forces look has just been superceeded, and that if they want the latest look, it will mean a whole new load out at extra cost .

Below is a link to the actual article.

And for those of you wearing multisham (sorry multicam), it seems that airsoft burbury is amoungst the potential candidates for the replacement patern, so at last you may be wearing the uniform of a real world operator.

During the trials that ended up having UCP chosen as the main camo pattern, there was another camo pattern that performed very well. I'm wondering why they don't use this.

Multicam won. But was more expensive than ACU. Hence they chose ACU.

Multicam didn't win. Check it out. Multicam was actually outperformed in most environments, by the eventual winner of the trials. A camouflage that seems to have never been produced. What we now know as UCP only performed well at night time.

UCP = Universal Camo Pattern. You call it ACU. ACU = Army Combat Uniform. You can get ACU cut Multicam. So I call UCP by it's name when talking about camo patterns.

The Rangers have supposingly used multicam from the start, They wernt convinced acu/ucp would work and multicam seemed the better choice from the testing, but stupid US army Its like the 226 and the 92fs allover again they sacrificed quality from price

It may mean the difference between life and death for thousands of people though, which faaaaaaaaaar outweighs the 'needs' of an airsofter / collector. A true collector or enthusiast shouldn't be phased by this anyway, because it's their prerogative to have an accurate impression! All this means is that an ACU inspired setup will just become US Army / USSF / US Rangers etc 2005 - 200x(When it gets replaced).

Besides, if these reports are true, the US army and other branches that use ACU will revert to an older camo to fill the gap because they are not to recieve any more funding. And these camo' varients are readily avaliable now in both issue and knock off. I've heard a lot of DCU references recently, but it will be interesting to see what they choose for as a temperate replacement.

Have talked to a group of real world operators from the US they had no idea to what I was talking about when refering to multicam, when expained to them most of them laughed about it, this being, as it is far from being as widely used as some rumours would have you believe, and is certainly not very well thought of.

Again real world operators I have spoken to from both US and British forces like niether the 226 0r the 92F, prefering instead to go with a 45 cal varient, purely for the stopping power it provides. Many individuals are also refusing to give up their 7.62 rifles, as its stopping power is far more valuble than that of 5.56, smaller calibre weapons are fine against a conventional army, where they idea is to create casualties that will slow them down, but against an irregular force which cares nothing for its wounded stopping power is what counts

I thoughroly agree, have long held the view that ACU fools absolutely no one, and should never have even been considered as an option, marpat is a digital system that does work, and would to many people have been the more senseable choice, but American military politics wouldn't allow the army to copy the marines

But various USSF have been seen (and photographed) wearing it in the field.
