    Re: Good Assault Vest

I had a Web-Tex PLCE Assault Vest a few years ago. It was a pretty good bit of kit, although I got rid of it for some proper PLCE Webbing as I found it awkward to use when down on my belt buckle

      Re: Good Assault Vest

I started off with a SAAV, and ditched it after one skirmish, just found it too cumbersome, pouches not secure, crappy material, I hated it. In fairness a lot of people use them, so it is down to the individual.

After the SAAV I intested in a used Arktis 1601 Jungle Battlevest cost me about £40, and it absolutely the best bit of kit I have ever bought, solid as hell, with plenty of pouches (without bieng too many) and the fabric and fastenings are a world apart from the Viper SAAV. I'm still using now, and even prefer it to my British Army issue Modular vest.

      Just my opinion though.....

Im after an assault vest with my multicam loadout., properly stuck as there is so much variation!

Carry 8 M4 mags, dump pouch and 'nades
        Potential to carry radio.
Modular would be ideal, but not that fussy.
Modern day look, Brit army / SF.

Tan ideally! On a limited budget, reckon under £80.

        Any recomendations?!
        Selling:
ISAF Tan patches, Union Jack Desert Patches Red Dot Sight, SR25 and M4 HiCaps.

Bulle Plate Carrier should fit the bill.

There are also some pouches and plate carriers for sale on this forum if you have a look around!!!

            Only one problem with that.

A plate carrier isn't an assault vest.

hong kong police vest is a good starter .On the front it has 2 pistol mag pouches, 2 mp5 mag pouches, 2 large mag pouches which hold 4 m4/aug ect or 2 large g3/m14, 2 small bits n bobs pockets one with shell loops, and a large utility. Back has down one side has large adjustable loops (no sure what for) .Other side a row of pockets I knocked the top 2 into each other to fit a hydro. Theres plenty of size adjustment in them too. used mine for 8 years ,handed it onto my bro the other day as hes started.

I suggest 95 pattern webbing but the proper Forces Issue and none of the the webtex cr*p thats made from duck tape!!
You can get almost anyhting on to webbing and 8 mags and grenades and then are easily stored in pouches of different kinds

I've been told the loops on the back are for carrying a shotgun and i find this works quite well, a+ to this vest, very versatile and comes in a variety of colours & camo options, Also very strong and built to last.

go MOLLE, thats what my advice would be!

                            Re: Good Assault Vest

Definitely go with a molle setup, till you get an idea of how you like to run your gear, e.g hi-speed-low-drag with just the bare minimum, or fully loaded for all eventualities. Low profile so it doesn't get in the way, or lots of protection to keep those bb's away from the fleshy parts.

Also, i would say that it is worth buying a good condition used vest of a tried and tested design from a good manufacturer, rather than a new one from a cheapo chinese website or something.
