Re: Elcan vs ACOG
Are the STAR/Ares ones not the same though? Reading reviews in general they seem pretty even? Some people have had problems with both, some people love both...

Re: Elcan vs ACOG
I've had Star and Clone ACOG's. The sight picture is very very small in the Star. I much prefer the China one. The China one also has built in iron sights for CQB use

Re: Elcan vs ACOG
Elcan's are heavy and in my opinion to big for an m4, and I didn't like how restrictive the acog was so I use an eotech 552 replica and aimpoint 3x magnifier on a flip to side mount. Got magnification for long range and can very quickly switch to reflex sights for up close and personal. Best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned. Should bear it in mind if u want magnified optics. Looks good too.

Re: Elcan vs ACOG
Eotech's are the best sight as it doesn't give you that tunnel vision you sometimes get but if its a choice between the two I would recommend the ACOG for practicality reasons.

Re: Elcan vs ACOG
Having used the ELCAN from august last year and thens witching to the ACOG last month, they both have their benefits.
ELCAN Pros:
1. This thing will never break. Hell, you could probably beat some one to death with this giant piece of metal. Plus it has conical shaped lenses which a BB has no chance of shattering.
2. It's piss easy to adjust, all you need is a coin or flathead screw driver.
3. Mine never fog'd up.
4. Smaller eye relief
ELCAN Cons:
1. Heavy.
2. F*cking heavy.
3. Costs a bomb from UK airsoft shops.
ACOG
1. Light, this thing is perfect if you like a light setup.
2. Tend to be cheaper than ELCANs
3. Reticle doesn't have a giant obelisk blocking your view
4. Looks pretty cool
5. Looks good on most guns (AKs, M4s, G36s etc).
ACOG Cons:
1. Huge eye relief
2. Quite fragile
3. Costs a bomb from UK airsoft shops.
I don't mind either. They're both good scopes. If you don't mind lugging a heavy rifle around, get an ELCAN. If you like light weight, go for an ACOG. I could be more specific about their traits, but I'm sure you can deduce from the pros/cons listed above.
