MOLLE set ups
5 September, 2009, 18:41
hi y'all
for my loadout i had PLCE webbing, which wasnt brilliant in some ways, mainly the unesseicary pouches.
ive got a molle vest but need some ideas for what to put on. i already have a double ammo. and i need the radio pouch, thats cool.
what set ups do you have on your molle vests/plate carriers.
thanks

Re: MOLLE set ups
Well it all depends on what kinda role your going to be playing. If your support gunning, you going to what more ammo pouches, and if your sniping and taking very few shots, you can scale down on the mag pouches and carry other things
I play in a close assault role normally, but often am also the team comms operator and im often dealing with admin issues (checking people in on game days, paying green fees etc)
As such, on my R.I.C.A.S, i have
Four double M4 mag pouches
Two double pistol mag pouches
Holster
One medium utility pouch
One small utility pouch- filled with a first aid kit
One admin pouch
For demonstration- minus the holster which goes on the left hand side of my chest panel, and the mags, which go on the other side of the chest panel
G&G TR15 Raider XL, CA G36K, G&G MP5A4, Cyma Thompson, APS AKS-74U, Custom TM Uzi, DE M56, WE Nighthawk X2, Cyma Glock 18C
RD Customs MG42, The Bone Cannon And Project Balderdash.

Re: MOLLE set ups
where abouts would a radio pouch generally go?
i coulnt think it would go on your back, cos then you cant access it quickly if you need i?

Re: MOLLE set ups
I use a CB OTV with a molle hydration on the back along with an upside down mounted M7 Bayonet (resin).
On the front I have a large utility pouch for ammo, loaders, torch, spare batteries, food; 1 smoke pouch for my BFG; 1 Double & 1 Single Stanag pouches for up to 6 mags; a foldable dump pouch and a map/admin pouch for a site map, lighter, BFG blanks, tools, penkife etc.
My radio is just clipped onto Molle on my left shoulder.
Most of the front is "occupied" except the right shoulder - which is for the weapon.
Seems a lot but I tend to carry stuff for my son as well as me.

Re: MOLLE set ups
When people mount the radios on the back they dont need to access it- what they'll do is run a mic and earphone over their back- rather like a hands free kit

Re: MOLLE set ups
I have since attached the utility pouch to the back left of my plate carrier as it got in the way of my pistol draw.
For nades I either use my dumper, or a horizontal utility pouch on my belt. I keep snacks in the left thigh pocket of my BDU trousers.

Surely just buy what you need? If you need a utility pouch, then get one big enough for your needs. Admin panel, fine for holding a site map but other than that potentially pointless, although I also stick the team badge on mine.

Well if you need to change channels you can take it out, but its not common procedure, and some hands free kits have a tab to change channels
Buy a med utility for your snacks, maglight etc, and buy grenade pouches for your grenades

Re: MOLLE set ups
Just lay everything you plan to carry out onto the floor and make sure you have a suitable pouch for it all, and never get rid of pouches! You'll only find yourself buying them again in 3 months haha.

Re: MOLLE set ups
like aeviv mentioned, frag pouches for frags, or smoke grenade pouches for anything bigger,
hydration pouch and radio pouch on the back,
2x double or 1x triple and one double (basically any combo you desire of mag pouches) on front and side, admin pouch and multitool/pistol mag pouch opposite side of dominant firing arm
medium utility/medic pouc on the opposite side of whichever youre dominant (i.e if youre right hsnded have it on the left)
i currently run an od ricas with the following set up
front:
1xtriple m4 magazine pouches
1xadmin pouch
1xmultitool/pistol mag pouch
right side panel:
1x double m4 mag pouch
left panel:
1x medium medic/utility pouch
rear:
hydration pouch
radio pouch

At which point I would mount my ride, which is a donkey called Akbar, and charge off into the enemy, lighting the grenades as I go
