How to wear a shemagh

Just so ppl know i didn't write this guide just thought ppl on here would like to know all thanks go to conscript of a foriegn forum


Heres a quick guide on how to properly wear a shemagh over your head
Also, a shemagh is prononunced [she-mah] the g is silent :mrgreen:
In farsi, the name for a shemagh or a peice of cloth wrapped around your head for non religic purposes is called a Khuffiyah [Khoo-Fi-Yah]

STEP 1
Fold the shemagh into a triangle. Wrap it around the back and over the top of your head, with the folded edge across your forehead, making sure that about two-thirds of the material is on your left. The right end ought to be long enough to come to your chest.

STEP 2
Use your left hand to pinch the shemagh about 3 or 4 inches from the folded edge and let the edge hang forward

Let go of the right end. Using your left hand, hold the edge of the shemagh next to your left cheek and hold it near your left cheekbone. After you do this, use your right hand to pull the left end of the shemagh across your face, over your nose.

STEP 4
Continue to wrap the shemagh around your face and head until you get it back over your left shoulder. Grip the right tail and hold it to keep from pulling the shemagh off your head as you wrap. Work your hands down toward the ends as you wrap.

STEP 5
Pull the shemagh as tight as needed to feel comfortable. At the end of the process, take both ends and, somewhere near your right temple, tie them in a knot. A square knot will secure the shemagh adequately.

Thanks jester, this was actually really helpful! I got annoyed trying to put my shemagh on properly, but because I tried my own stupid method it didnt fit right. Now I dont have to just wear it around my mouth and my RPG insurgent look will be complete!

yeah actually TBH that would've been easier to post as thats the exact link i learnt from, tho i got into a bad habbit of tying it round the back of the head and apparently tying a shemagh like that make you look like a girl..........lol tho with the different ways do whats easier and more comfortable for you, as with tying round the back of the head (which is easier for me) you can actually pull the face part down and the head part back to make it a scarf and if you so wish just pull the head part back up and the face part back up and your back where you started.

I do mines the second way because of if you pull it over your head it becomes a scarf instantly which helps if your head gets too hot or you keep getting shot in the neck.

Although the 1st looks more Terrorist for some reason, I don't know why though...

the only problem i find is that the cheap chinese ones are to small to tie properly
i have a genuine saudi one which is great but bright red
