What Helmets are US Marines Currently wearing?

I'm currently trying to do a USMC DMR Loadout and obviously apart from the MARPAT+Boots
What kit would I be looking to get ESPECIALLY Looking at helmets as I have NO CLUE which one to get!

I think they wear MICH style helmets

They wear the Light Weight combat helmet which is basically a 2nd gen PASGT helmet (about 30% lighter I think) it is OD in colour and then they put a MARPAT cover on it.

The US army wear the MICH.

As has been said they wear the Gentex USMC Lightweight helmet, which is a lightweight version of the PASGT, with better ergonomics and protection (I think Its a little bit bigger than the PASGT which apparently reduces the blunt trauma of a bullet strike). It has a completly different suspension to the PASGT aswell. However the USMC do wear MICH helmets, the standard ground troops dont but the USMC Force Recon has been wearing them since they were introduced.

Along with the lightweight PASGT type dont they have a similar but not exact the same as the MICH helmet?

seals are wearing IBH's but i dont know if marines have followed yet

Yeh I believe the particular version they use is made by Rabintex and not Gentex, but dont quote me on that one. I think its the same shape as the Gentex MICH/ACH but a lightweight version

Marines wont wear IBH's cause the IBH is a fairly old design. I think SEALs are wearing the various different MICH models, such as the 2002 cut, usually with Sordins or Comtacs, which looks ALOT like the IBH

i have a friend whos in the marines, and he prefers the pasgt as the mitch beacuse the mitch has a huge cut out at the back to improve menuvaribilty so either mitch or Pagst , depending on the marine ,

The standard USMC ground trooper doesnt really get a choice of what helmet to wear. He wears the one he/she is issued, most commonly now it'll be the Gentex Lightweight, or the Improved CVC (Combat Vehicle Crewman) helmet, dependant on their role. Force Recon is a completly different thing altogether, their role is more specialised, so they require different equipment, the Lightweight helmet is a little unsuitable for the high mobile type of fighting they involve themselves in and MICH is readily available, has alot of things you can bolt on and is more suitable in general. However, back to the point if your going for a DMR look, its gonna have to be a PASGT type helmet. Gentex Lightweights do come up on ebay occasionally but alot of people just outfit PASGT's in a 4 point harness, the correct suspension and a MARPAT reversible cover

That's what I've done.

Here's an example of the Light Weight Helmet. Looks a bit like the MICH, due to the 4 point harness, but the MICH is higher at the back (for prone shooting) and has no lip at the front.

Unless you're willing to shell out £££ on a LWH then the PASGT is the way to go

I'll be doing a temperate version, no dessies for me. If worst comes to worst I'll drop it and finish my PMC!

Doesn't really matter, the kit's the same except for the jacket and trousers
