Viper neoprene face mask
16 October, 2009, 20:35
Just wondering if anyone here has used one before ? They are intended as comforters but ive heard that they can be used as face protection (along with googles of course). Im under 18 so have to have full face protection, but i find it really hard to use the scope on my gun with a full face mask. So i showed these to the owner of the site i go to and he says he is happy for me to wear one of these along with some glasses.
So, what i want to know if anyone has been shot in the face whilst wearing one of these ? Is it any less painful than being shot in the bare face ? I just want to make they are in some way effective before i go ahead and buy one =]
Cheers guys

Re: Viper neoprene face mask
They're fairly thin, but take much of the sting out of face hits. Be aware though that they will likely cause non-mesh goggles to steam up fairly quickly and might be awkward to get a good fit alongside goggles.

Re: Viper neoprene face mask
They are made from a thin sheet of neoprene rubber with a thin polyester fleece lining. They'll reduce the impact felt by reasonable amount but close range hits might still sting but by and large most hits should be painless.

I had one, beware they can be very hot on the face, and subsequently a nightmare for glasses.
Best combo is the neoprene with Heroshark or Bitter End goggle which have steel mesh.
Certainly will take the impact out of the hits though

Re: Viper neoprene face mask
Hmmm yeah i guessed they might be pretty hot, although with the weather in this country, especially over winter, maybe thats not such a bad thing !
Ill have to see how it goes with the glasses i have atm, ive heard shaving foam can stop the lenses fogging up ? Ill be giving it a go once i get one anway, but if its an issue ill have to look into some mesh goggles. Cheers !

Re: Viper neoprene face mask
hey i used one of those for 1 game and like stated before it makes your face extremely hot and rather sweaty.
i would recomend buying the half face mask and mesh goggles of heroshark as they are brilliant

Never a truer word spoken. With my mask it's relativity cool, and I can speak with it on. Best of all, all my teeth are where they belong still :D <--- See!

Re: Viper neoprene face mask
Nah im not a fan of the plastic masks, i cant get my face close enough to the stock of my gun to use the scope. Have tried a few different ones and just dont get on with them. In a years time when im old enough to go with just glasses i'll definately not be using any other face protection, this is just for the time being because until im 18 its site rules !

sharky fits them around your face mate so it will be as close to as possible. however as you can see in my avatar i just go for the mesh goggles

Look for a substance called 'cat crap'.
Very good grease type substance you smear on lenses of glasses, and then polish off. Stops steaming.

Yeah i saw some of that stuff down at the site. Was in little red tubs and cost about 6 quid a piece. May have to look into some if te shaving foam fails, but i figured if it works at 99p a can from boots you cant go wrong haha

Re: Viper neoprene face mask
Theres lots of differant methods, cat craps by far the best i've tried. Another budget one is to submerge you glasses in soapy water and leave to dry naturally. Leaves a soapy layer on your glasses. Pretty much what shaving foam will do.
