Help! nam' style
8 April, 2012, 22:39
I need some help here, i want a nam' loadout and i want to be using the mac 10(just because i love it) and i was wondering if anyone knew specifically who used them and what gear they had. i don't particularly like the idea of C.I.A and wikipedia isn't helping so i turned to the forum.
cheers in advance,
chris

Re: Help! nam' style
I seem to think it may have been used by the seals, or a seal I think. But you'll have to check it out if anyone could bask me up or disprove this great eiter way.
Could work for SOG as they used pretty much anything.

Re: Help! nam' style
Its quite difficult to find photo evidence of the mac-10 in use in Vietnam but a lot of people speculate that it was used by the SEAL's however at most I've seen maybe one photo of an ARVN instructor demo'ing it and thats it.
Seen a few UZI photo's but none of the mac-10 thus far.

Re: Help! nam' style
From someone (me) whos part of Rolling Thunder (one of the Largest Vietnam living history groups out there) The mac 10 had VERY limited use from the US forces.
It was never a weapon of choice, when there where better weapon systems out there available.
Drake- I have sen the photo you refer to, according to the guys who know more about it than me, that instructor was only demo'ing it incase anyone had to pick it up and use it.
Again never a weapon that was preferred

Could carry the mags in either a Chichom if your going towards SOG, or one one those gresae gun mag pouches.

Re: Help! nam' style
Grease gun or WWII Thompson pouches would do. Both can be used in a regular M56 belt.

Re: Help! nam' style
The POW sounds interesting. I have some jungle boots and a fatigue shirt so maybe i just need some olive or tiger trousers and a chicom or bandolier or something Similar.
What do you think?

Re: Help! nam' style
Surely if a POW escapee managed to acquire a weapon it would be one from the VC/NVA rather than a Mac 10?

Re: Help! nam' style
Very true. I might stay simple and go along the lines of elite special forces. Maybe something like this:

I know its from a game but its just what im looking for

Re: Help! nam' style
actually thats a good point, haveing a quick google, mac10s were used by SEALS and LRRPs (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols) in the Vietnam war so its a possiblility
you could carry it as a side arm with a M16 or something similar
