  • USMC? Scout Sniper Loadout Help

    Hey everyone

So, I've just picked myself up an m40a3 stock for my vsr, simply for the reason it looks awesome.
(Yes I know- snappy and brittle but LOOK at how awesome they can look http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Co...6a.hmedium.jpg)

I don't know much about professional loadouts, and I simply know that the m40 was/is in use within American Marines and some Border Forces perhaps.

So, I'm looking to make a woodland loadout, preferably light so i can be all sneaky sneaky when I need to without getting snagged (And can run like hell when I need to without getting shot)

PREFERABLY a battle-belt system, as I prefer to have everything I need across my hips and arse, rather than crotch and chest. (Which incidentally is the opposite of how I like my women)

NO rucksack- I'm a serious 'softer but I have no need for a tent, kitchen sink etc. (yet)

And artistic license is allowed: It doesn't have to be a perfect loadout, but I would like it if people look at me and say "ah, he was aiming for this look".

Anyways, I'm asking you guys as I wouldn't even know where to start. Woodland Marpat, I guess?

Pics are extremely welcome- it gets my imagination running.
    Bust a move.

Use woodland MARPAT for your "uniform", and get a Molle belt in OD/Tan with appropriate pouches. I run a triple pistol pouch for my 3 VSR Mags, a couple of double pistol mag pouches for my pistol mags (Duh) a dump pouch and a utility pouch. Works well for me!

is it a modern period scout sniper or maybe an 80's/90's period scout sniper that your after replicating?

and i'm saying this despite i'm going to be yelled at for it ... battlefield 3 recon class look? not really a scout sniper but looking at it, it is a practical look.

but back to scout snipers, most you see wear the same if not more gear than regular grunts nowadays

but if going for a 80s/90s look

not the best reference pictures in the world but might be a start

A cheers to the both of you! I like both suggestions: I think I'm going to go for the more modern look, with woodland marpat as suggested.

woodland BDU top, with some form of netting, sewn into it with fishing wire and shoe goo or hotglue, then add burlap and dew and krylon if needed, don't put alot on the arms, focus the shoulders, if you do put it on the arms, don't make it too long, so if on all 4's you don't kneel on it, the head and shoulders should have the most to break up the head/shoulders shape, but with face not having a alot covering so you can see, for boonie/head same thing and i would again recomend the BDU boonie, its alot stiffer and can carry alot more, the material itself is alot thinner, so won't be as heavy when covered in ghille, the matter is also easyier to sewn through. the legs normal marpat trousers with nothing on them. as for belt system i would recommend some kind of mech vest, if possible put it under the netting, or put the dew and burlap on to the vest.

Sweet i have a webtex concealment vest already- should work well with that. Its got hessian all over it but is looking a tad dark atm. Shall spray paint and leave in sunlight. (if we see any)

            Stock arrived today, looks suave.

Now, regardless of USMC or not, personal preferences only: Silencer, or no silencer? I like the silencer, Monkey says it looks naff.

Get a Warrior PLB belt in tan and the some CB pouches. IFAK pouch will make a good utility pouch

only spray paint if 100% needed to match where you mostly play, if u can get some spray glue, can't remember what its called :D use that on your burlap and while you play you will pick up mud and bits and pieces. you will need to use netting of osme sort on the arms.

Re: USMC? Scout Sniper Loadout Help

So finally, Thinking about going for the woodland marpat look. Would prefer tan battle-rig but will have to muddy it up so it isn't so bright. Otherwise may just got for OD Battle-rig. Will keep it very minimalistic: I will only be carrying 4 or 5 vsr mags (Which is overkill) and one spare pistol mag. Pistol holster will be on back of the right hip. (Definitely need something smaller than a Deagle...).Will probably purchase OD/Tan boots and knee pads. Will wear the/a ghillie when I feel like it.

This is the ghillie I made: looks heavy but remarkably light. Still got all veggie loops reachable and available. Doesn't really suit the look i'm going for I feel. (Yes im all about looks rather than usefulness/practicality)
Pretty dark for the forest I play in, which has that light evergreen waist-height foliage crap everywhere.

Sorry for the douche-pose. We've all done it.

Re: USMC? Scout Sniper Loadout Help

in the top pic there is alot of stuff in your face, you need to move that. it looks a bit unclear but i don't think you have a boonie under there? if not put one under it, you want every thing to be tight to you and not rattle about. so attaching the headpiece to a hat will move some of the crap out ur face and when the strap if done up it should roll about your head. for gloves i would you avaitor gloves with a bit of spray paint here and there to match your enviroment with trigger and 2nd figger cut off. als oget the krylon out on your gun, the reason being ghille and netting and what not get caught up and you will not always be in the posistion to move ( just me i have) and if you are but u need to do it quitely getting caugh on a branch isn't best idea. as for the belt system yes a belt system works but if your lying down you have to roll on to a side to get something, what u want is a mesh vest of somesort to carry ammo and a pistol and everything that is needed on your chest, keeping every as steamlined to yourself as possible. also ditch the balaclava? or what ever that is and use facepaint instead.

yes its all about looks but if your stuck in a bush and people can see you whats the point in looking good? when in their eyes you'll just look like a dick.
