  • U.S air cav...

    i saw this....

on this hat alone, because of how awesome it is, i wanna do air cav, nam style.

i'm thinking something along the lines of 3rd pattern jungle setup and a basic M56 webbing setup, hopefully enough to pass as air cav, with that awesome hat.

i'll probably have to get a nam era M16 which should be... umm... fun?

regardless of the american little toy guns, air cav hat has me sold.

    what you think?

I love the idea mate! I'm all for the cavalry look

Works as a 'social' dress uniform for the fancy evenings at War and Peace too....

    Cheers,

    Tom

I think the hat is actually a throw back to the actual 7th cavalry days of Custer and the like, just adopted as it looked cool!

I managed to sort Neil (the guy on the left in the third picture down) out with a shirt badged up to represent Lt. Col. Kilgore for War and Peace. You can just see his name tag over his chest pocket. When you add the cavalry stetson (and he added the Cavalry belt buckle) it really works well.

Snowdrop I think you're right mate. The pilot and aircrews were, to my knowledge, the first to adopt the cavalry stetson as an homage to cavalry units such as Custers 7th Cavalry Regiment.

            Cheers all,

            Tom

unfortunately, because i was only at a fancy dress do... people thought i was the ranger out of yogi bear... not impressed.

so next time i got the chance to use it airsofting the addition of a pair of balistic aviator shades made all the difference.
