USMC using IBH Helmets ?
6 February, 2012, 16:16
Well recently I have been hearing or seeing on product descriptions of people talking about IBH helmets saying that they are perfect for DELTA , SEAL USMC FR , SBS loadouts ect and they are in use with them . I have seen DELTA and SEALS using them during my research but never seen a single USMC guy wearing one ( They all wear mich 2000 with the rare 2001 or 2002 ( Force Recon) ) , why is this ? Anybody know or are people just generalizing what " SF" use and think they all use the same gear .
On a side not if anybody has a norotos one hole reversable Marpat cover can they pm me ( would prefer issued )
.

Re: USMC using IBH Helmets ?
According to ILC Dover (the manufacturer of the IBH) only 741 were made and they went to US Navy SEAL units and US Air Force Combat Controller and Pararescue units.

Re: USMC using IBH Helmets ?
I am aware that the majority of the corps use the LWH , was just wondering if anybody had anymore insight as to why there is the belief that they use the IBH .
On a similar note I've heard that they will be dropping the LWH and start introducing a helmet that "FR have been testing extensively " . This could mean we shall be seeing Mich 2000 , 2001 or 2001 helmets a bit more ? . And I believe they are doing the same with the M16a4 for the M4 but I can assume some M16 will be kept in rotation for Designated marksmen when a M14 or other more long range system isn't needed .
I need to get off the internet

Re: USMC using IBH Helmets ?
Ive just picked myself up a IBH replica in multicam and i have to say they are very very nice helmets, i like to Loosly base my Loadout on Spec Ops style but don't copy any loadout down to the tiniest detail
and have become a complete multicam whore lol

IBH is quite old now in comparison to things like the 2001 and the FAST helmets.

Re: USMC using IBH Helmets ?
From a friend who is a USMC nutjob,
"The M4A1 is currently being fielded to deployed units purely because of ease if obtainability and the current AO has shown no real impairment from fielding a shorter barreled Carbine.
The LWH has been in some cases been replaced by the ACH (not the MICH, although identical) to deployed Marines because of a manufacturing issue with UNICOR the sole manufacture of the LWH.
However, Gentex also manufacture the LWH wether this is under contract from UNICOR ...
Force Recon have been seen using the MICH style helmet for some considerable time (2000)
However, will and do use the LWH when part of wider MAGTF operations, presumably for the purposes of uniformity ..."
and:
"I've seen old photo's of the IBH used during VBSS and HRT missions, but it would appear to be at unit level only ..."
Interesting to say the least, I am also sure he has photos. He has a couple of fantastic USMC loadouts.

Re: USMC using IBH Helmets ?
Force recon no longer does any of the DA stuff, its all MARSOC Now.
as for the IBH, sorry can't see it.. all the pics i got its a MICH 2000, the reason i belive is they get issued with everything, and still have a few limitations on what they can wear, as they are not "SF" but Special operations capable, so kinda like a mid-way house between bog infantry and SF. I could also be with their Military insurances, if you don't wear what we give you, your not covered kinda thing.

Re: USMC using IBH Helmets ?
Yeah , their in the same boat as 75 Rangers , you do find quite a few pics floating around of them using Multicam and khaki MBSSs , same with the occasion mich 2001 /2002 with rhino arm and strap setup instead of the normal norotos 1 hole . Keep in mind in mind I'm not really up to date on FR as my loadout are based from 2002 -2006 just after the FSBE II kit was starting to get issued .
