Yup RAC helmets, dispatch rider helmets and para helmets of the late WWII period all had a very similar steel shell but totally different lining and suspension on them.

The RAC and Para helmets served on til the 80s but most RAC lids these days have been butchered by re-enactors converting them to para lids badly by drilling different holes in them and changing the suspension.
