  • Mk 6 and Mk 7 helmet weight?

So according to Wikipedia,"the Mk 7 helmet is lighter than its predecessor – 2 pounds 4 ounces (1.0 kg) instead of 3 pounds 5 ounces (1.5 kg) for the Mark 6 helmet".

I recently weighed both of them and the results were:
    Mk 6: 1.32kgs
    Mk 7: 1.5kgs exactly.

Both were measured without any NVG straps etc.

So what's the deal with that? Is Wikipedia wrong?

Are you sure you actually have the correct helmets? Ie. you don't have a Mk6 and a Mk6a for instance?

Just because it says so on ebay doesn't mean that's what it really is

              hi,
have you taken into account you may have weighed the m6 size large and and mk7 size small ? it does make a difference

Have you considered that Wikipedia is written by the public. As such they can write what ever they like. Articles will get vetted sooner or later, but you could write a piece today on the reproductive system of a golf ball and tomorrow some biology student will write a paper on it stating wiki as fact.

In a nutshell, wiki is a good starting point for research, but for the love of God do not take it as gospel.
