to anyone who uses Osprey as part of their loadout in the field, how well can you tell if you have been hit? (just purchased Mk4 version and worried I wont notice some hits)

Re: Osprey Armour
I can feel them pretty well. I don't have any plates or inserts so you might not notice if you do. You can hear the hits pretty easily tho.

Re: Osprey Armour
I don't have the plates in, just two rigidity panels of cardboard in the back, is it a distinctive sound when hit?

Re: Osprey Armour
Fairly distinctive. I was able to feel a hit on sunday on an outer pouch that was empty and it made a loud-ish noise.

Re: Osprey Armour
Hits to vest you can definitely feel and here. Put your vest on and flick yourself. Hits on pouches are a different matter, but you can certainly hear the hit of a bb.
Good on yer for choosing osprey mk4
Are you running with cummerbands or side panels for a mk4a.

Re: Osprey Armour
It's what you are used to. You may find sides quicker and easier, they do come up on internet auctions quite reasonably. You may also need the front panel and 2x blank panels.
