L129A1
16 April, 2011, 15:19
Just thought this would be the best place to post for this specific weapon as it ties very close to the loadout I'm building.
As titled, the L129A1, what parts would be necessary to build and accurate(ish) one from an SR25 or ARES M110?
Specifically parts fitted in theatre. For example I've seen publicity shots of them fitted with Magpul PRS stocks, but also black or khaki crane stocks fitted.

Putting a BB in a silencer then using it as a blowpipe. that's the best.

Re: L129A1
Best be isn't to start with a M110 but a SR25K (URX). That would need little in the way of work to get it as close as you can in airsoft (its impossible to do properly ATM as the upper on the L129A1 has the RIS as a part of it and it isn't available for airsoft yet).
From that as a base it would be the Prip, Stock and a few other parts that would need swapping out but not too much.

Re: L129A1
Those bits you mentioned swapping out would be what roughly?
Also regard the rails, aren't the M110's rails integrated with the reciever? (runs to google!)
Edit: my bad, I see the difference, just about.

Re: L129A1
You would only need to spray the stock Tan/FDE but the pistol grip is different. FH would need to be shanged for the vortex one as well.

Re: L129A1
The early shots with the PRS stocks were just trials versions, the LMT crane stock got picked for adoption in the end. I had a play with a 129 last week and the stock and pistol grip are both surprisingly good I have to say, the VFG's a bit rubbish but I guess you can't win them all.
Anyway, airsoft; even if the ARES receiver set is more accurate, the internals will be made of cardboard and cheese so I'd say golightly's approach is pretty much the best method short of buying a G&P SR-25k. That'd make it about as close as you can get with an AEG until someone makes a 7.62 LMT MRP.

Re: L129A1
Why the ugly grip when the correct one is easily available? Nice otherwise.
Shame G & P don't do a 7.62 MRP.
The laptop is mightier than the pistol.

Finished apart from the fat ACOG and sling hooks, but I never sling my AEG's so I probably wont bother

Re: L129A1
Really good job, leave out the tan unless you play on a beach. And keep the rail covers off it for some railed goodness. Loose the gas block and change out the flash hider though. It looks nice!
