This looks pretty similar to the Mujahideen, did you use them for reference?

Re: Insurgent Load out?
The plan was for a local from the Afg-Pak region, that had been slightly militarised - specifically to fit in for our role in Operation Warpath.
In the end I dropped the Ruski Tarzan vest in favour of a more generic OD chest rig, but that was because I needed some larger pouches for grenades, ration meals, and other essential survival kit for our longer patrols.
May need to take the hem of the Dishdash up a bit though because it did make running through dense wooded bits a bit tricky !

Yeah, something the Mujahideen, and the Taliban now, don't really have to contend with all that much!

Yes, I'm going like a low budget rag head. .
As for your loadout it looks middle eastern rather than afghan. The actual afgans wear a sort of turban (black if Taliban) or the hat (pakol) sean has in his load out.
As for Seans load out that seems to look the part. He looks like either a Russian or European Re-vert that has joined up with the fighters.

Re: Insurgent Load out?
I 'll tell you what to wear for the Taliban look, you will need one long black piece of cloth 5 or 6 yards by one yard to wrap turban style around head leaving about a foot on one side to use as a face/dust mask.do not shave so you have face hair. two piece clothes top must be loose, have no buttons down front and come to your nee's with slits down side to aide movement. bottoms should be loose, same colour as top and be ABOVE your ankle, shoes not boots but no socks, or sandles a Chinese or Vietnam chest rig and any gun from an old musket to enfield 303 to an ak 47, aksu's are rare in Afghanistan, handguns are carried in FBI style underarm holsters, turban should be wrapped "007 living daylights style" shamaghs are not worn but draped across shoulders, in cold weather wrap a dark brown ,grey or green light blanket or cloak med evil style with gear underneath thats your average Taliban though you can make your variation machine gun ammo is worn criss cross bandido style shotgun ammo is also worn similar fashion sometimes they wear the afghan hats which is basically a disc with a fat surround thats it.

I am surprised this thread is still going!
Sadly most folks at my site found it rather offensive, so I abandoned the project. :P

Re: Insurgent Load out?
I'm going to be doing a T1 milsim in a couple of months at Battle Lakes, playing on the Taliban team. My loadout so far consists of:
Pakol
Shalwar Kameez (the two-piece baggy robe and trousers)
OD or US Woodland jacket (most likely have to be OD to abide by team rules)
Black scarf or shemagh
Black boots (because while sandals would be more authentic, I'm
not
going to be running about the forest in them!)
Shoulder holster
Chicom chest rig
US Pistol belt and yoke
Pouches (I found some large French utility pouches that are big enough to hold spare AK mags as well as all the other things I'll need on milsim patrols)
AK47
Pistol (either Beretta M9 or Glock 17)
Any further (helpful) advice?

Re: Insurgent Load out?
I've got an old Soviet belt and AK mag pouch (as seen on the left of the pic) if you want to borrow it? Would certainly be authentic Afghan battlefield pickup
