SOF are generally a bit rubbish in quality. Avoid.

Ah, a fellow melon head! Yep, I took ages to find a lid big enough, then got one that was TOO BIG!!! Had to add foam to the liner to fit! Must be a size 62/63 or summit!

*blush*, erm, yeah. It's far better looking now, as all the modern bits are gone, and the uniform is complete now. sent them better pics of my kits (brit, yank, hun) but they are yet to replace them.

There's a shop on the Bay selling helmets up to 61. Also try Militaria-net they do some good stuff, but just say their M35 helmet is a Large?

Re: lets talk germans, of the WW2 variety
I'm in the process of piecing together a new set of German WW2 gear in a 9th SS- Panzergrenadier Hohenstaufen style (since they fought almost everywhere I can portray a unit at a lot of WW2 themed games).
Weapon:
Kar98K with VSR internals, FPS to be varied depending on whether I want to be on-the-line or sniping.
Headgear:
I have an original M42 helmet which needs a new liner
Uniform:
HBT Tunic (to keep the weight and cost down)
M44 Trousers
Gaiters over modern assault boots
A "liberated" officer's plash-pilatka for use in place of a zeltbahn for concealment use.
Webbing:
Belt order with G43 pouches (VSR mags won't fit in K98 pouches)
Holster for P38
Probably won't bother with gas-mask tin/breadbag/mess-tins/waterbottle (used to have an original one but sold it >.<)/rubber bayonet/E-tool until I get the rest done.
I'm sure I'll get around to it at some point, being a student is a bit of a pain when it comes to affording nice bits of kit!

My WW2 FJ loadouts. My PPSH ain't here at the moment as it's off having a MP40 mag adaptor being made for it (I do hope it works).
With italian cam trousers.

Re: lets talk germans, of the WW2 variety
Looking pretty good Thingy. I'd say maybe lose the gloves as they look a little out of place, some wool ones or at least some less padded leather ones would look better. Your leg wraps may also be on the wrong feet- its hard to tell though. The starps should be on the outside (as they are) but pointing backwards; so they don't catch foliage as you walk. Otherwise just get it nicely muddy and faded down! :D

Re: lets talk germans, of the WW2 variety
Yeah, I can't wear those gloves in game anyway as their too big to be practical - just put em on for the picture so there was no bare hands :P and thanks for pointing out about the gaters - didn't notice.
Got my K98 mag pouches today but I'm gonna have to send them back and get some G43 ones instead as Tanaka K98 mags are slightly too big

Re: lets talk germans, of the WW2 variety
Yeah K98 pouches don't hold VSR or Tanaka mags unless you get longer ones custom made. I've modified mine by extending the straps and cutting a slit for the tanaka mag base plate to slot though. Not ideal but better than nought.
VSR mags I just carry in my pockets as they're so light you don't notice them and use the pouches for loose ammo etc.
Bare hands is perfectly fine for WWII, most soldiers managed without gloves except in winter. Alwyas wearing gloves are very much a modern/airsofter thing.

Re: lets talk germans, of the WW2 variety
I actually had them on because of great big bloody marks all over my fingers and a split nail from getting shot the previous weekend - not the most sightly of things to put on here xD
I'll probably get some pictures up of the new stuff later tonight or tomorrow.
