Just wondering what pieces of kit are a must have for a russian sniper? (exclusing the gun)
Cheers,

Re: Russian Sniper?
sniper harness ain't changed much for the last 25 odd years, its a belt and yoke with svd pouches, or other rifle mag pouches.
bdu's, for the late soviet, afghan era you've got KLMK, i can't get any, its hard to come by, but so awesome.
more modern stuff would be LESHY, its easier to come by and is more like a russian version of a guille suit. if you've played MW, the russian snipers in it are meant to be wearing LESHY.

Re: Russian Sniper?
I saw a couple of pictures a while ago of a sniper & spotter in SURPAT with a head and shoulder concealment rig, will try and hunt the picture down for you.

Wish I'd have know that 2 weeks ago, I'd have picked you up some from the War & Peace show. There was a guy selling both a 1 piece and 2 piece suit.
But yeah, as Boris said, KLMK (or a KZS suite) would be appropriate for an Afghan era sniper loadout. Probably still acceptable for anything up to the 90s too.
For modern sniper webbing, you could probably run with SMERSH with just the SVD pouches and possibly the butpack

Re: Russian Sniper?
I was thinking, could I use some jack pyke camo leaves and attach them to a hooded camouflaged jumper? I'm sure it would work.

Re: Russian Sniper?
I'm pretty sure Jack Pyke camo leaves aren't a 'must have' for a Russian sniper

Re: Russian Sniper?
I think you're missing the point. The leshy suit I saw comprises of leaf like shapes attached to make a sort of 'ghillie suit'. As i don't want to pay £120+ for a leshy suit, i would prefer to make my own using materials which are similar. Hence the jack pyke camo leaves, which look similar.

Re: Russian Sniper?
If you want to look like you are going hunting with an air rifle use Jack Pike.....If you want to look like a Russian sniper use a Leshy suit. If you want to look like a normal sniper use a Ghillie suit.
One more thing, they are not missing the point...They just know what they are talking about.

Re: Russian Sniper?
Im pretty sure that i can change colour the leaves to make them more like the camouflage of the leshy suit. I don't particularly want to look like a hunter... but i want the camouflage to be effective in my local site, whilst still retaining the overall appearance of a leshy suit.

Re: Russian Sniper?
Word of warning:
Leshy will work everywhere, in every environment every season if used correctly
Jack pyke will only work in autumn with the dead leaf is the majority of the floor.

Re: Russian Sniper?
You can get the leshy suit in the uk for 100 quid plus postage.
Expensive I know, but it really is amazing stuff and is fantastic for the Russian sniper kit.
