hi people i have just found a large 4300 mah 9.6v battery and was wondering if i cut the plastic surrounding the battery. took 2 cells out (to make it smaller to fit in my m14) and then re did the plastic wouuld it still work.

Re: Airsoft Battery
I'm no expert, but aslong as there is a full circuit, then yes.
But someone else will have to explain the effects it may or may not have on the pack!

Re: Airsoft Battery
Make sure it's insulated when finished.
As I said, I am no expert, i'll I know is that a complete circuit is needed for anything electrical to work. Someone else will have to step in here for any further info.
However, I used to race R/C powerboats and I've made a few packs myself, all was fine.
EDIT: Each cell adds up to the total voltage of the pack, so expect some power loss if you do!!
Talking about my powerboats just reminded me, I added cells up to the output of 7.2v

Re: Airsoft Battery
It might work, but your RoF will be poor due to it then being a 7.2v battery after you've done that.

Re: Airsoft Battery
Sell the 9.6v and buy an 8.4v. Messing about with one is never the best idea really.
If you remove 2 cells, that makes it a 7.2.... which is rubbish!

Re: Airsoft Battery
Don't you have to "build in" a large pack in a M14? And charge it with the pack still in the gun?
Or something I read somewhere?...

Re: Airsoft Battery
As above, I re wired a nunchuck battery to make it into a brick shaped one for a support gun, it never worked well after i messed with it, best selling the large and buying a small.

Re: Airsoft Battery
Or you could always mount it extnerally?
Get a battery pouch or tape it to the stock. Quick soloution but it works.

Re: Airsoft Battery
another note to add is that you'll lose mAh. as (i think) there in parralell aswell as series.
series adds the voltages together. parralell adds the mAh.
just so you know.
