My 1st AEG (secondhand) pros and cons

hay fellow airsofters
ive just got my 1st AEG :D yay

though its not my 1st bb gun, it is my 1st AEG (i went and got a GBBR doh!)
soon realised though my WOC was fun to shot, it wasn't consistent or reliable enough but i liked my custom GBBR's look, feel and size,
i found the M7A1 was near on the same :D

after much searching a nice gentleman on this site held his one for me i now have his baby and now his baby is my baby pmsl
anyway down to the pros n cons
pros's- i got just what i wanted the troy M7A1 with extras
con's- its second hand and there for mite have problems... mine did :'(

once i got it i had a quick go on it and noticed a strange double tap sound on semi but was fine on full auto (must say insane ROF :D)
so being my 1st AEG and me being me, i took it apart..
1st thing i noticed was the anti-reversal latch spring was broke
2nd the bevel gear was munched...


3rd was the sector gear, wear where a shim should of been..


after removing all the gears i started to give the gearbox a clean and noticed little black bits of plastic..
i checked the piston and noticed the teeth have been damaged..



and the last absolutely no compression

though i do believe the compression is a factory fault as ive read a few reviews saying the same
shit o-ring i think..

so yea kind of a bummer, but im me and i like learning how to fix my own stuff
so if your looking for a fully working second hand airsoft gun be carefull
and please dont get the wrong idea i love this gun even with its problems

Why dont you get a refund as the person clearly sold you a POS that was broken.

Its second hand, can you prove the seller knew it was a POS?

Buying a second hand aeg is like buying a car, you want a refund or warranty buy new from a shop

Well if the seller sold it as new and working then I would think he as fired it to check this.

That is a delay chip, it should go onto the selector gear. It keeps the nozzle back for longer, to help feeding in a higher rof gun.

For the compression, remove the O-Ring from teh piston. Stretch the O-ring over the brass cylinder. Heat up the O-Ring using a lighter, let it cool and reassemble. It should have a much better seal now.

Happyal is correct but so are the others. If your happy rebuilding and modding the gearbox that is great, its also fun to do as well. If the gun was sold as working then I would at least ask for a partial refund. Work out the cost of the parts you will have to replace and then I would add a little extra for your time and inconvenience.

yea i removed delay chip to show the wear on the gear, but dont think you can see it in pic..

The OP title clearly says 'secondhand'.............The 'damage' apart from the broken reversal spring is hardly substantial and he doesn't say how much he paid, so hardly a case for others to say he should get a refund................
