Re: Guns dont need fuses ?
There are no fuses in loads of guns.
I think it was only TM that put fuses in to be on the safe side. Lots of places offer to remove the fuse, and connect the wires up to allow stronger batteries and such. Otherwise it restricts the guns capabilities.

You dont need a fuse but most guns come with them stock just to be safe.

Re: Guns dont need fuses ?
I have run my ICS M4 for nearly a year now with no fuse just taped the connectors together.
As said above no biggy.

Re: Guns dont need fuses ?
Taping the connectors together isnt ideal... You'd be pretty annoyed if they came loose in a game and stopped the gun firing. Also, poor contact may lead to excessive battery drain.
Been said but: Guns dont need fuses. As long as its a complete circuit it will fire.
Without fuses, you can get a higher rof, because they are quite high resistance otherwise.
On the down side, if you do have electrical issues, you could well burn the motor out, and set the battery on fire in extreme cases. The motor could even chew up your gears for you if they jam. Not very common though, most people get on fine without fuses.

gears not strip unless you have a steel piston rack.

Indeed, that's the reason for sticking with plastic/polycarb. pistons. I'd rather have that go than my gearset.

Re: Guns dont need fuses ?
Kitch, your gears may have had a problem that didn't involve the piston, most of the time your piston will go if it is plastic.
And as to fuses, I put a 30amp one in my M249, the standard one blew within about 5 mins of installing the new parts and the CA highspeed motor.

The fuse is put in to protect your battery, If you have a short which can easily happen it'll bugger your battery pretty quick and if you Like I am are usin Lipo's this is an expensive issue to happen, Use fuses!! They're a pain but will save your battery from permnament damage. Take this advice from someone with a qualification in electrical engineering
