Putting this up for a friend.

He has just brought a uromax g36k ebb. We arrived early at our local skirmish site to ser up the hop and the optics.
The gun chronoed at an insane 120 something mps meters per second.
In a panic so he could use his beloved new shiny gun he brought a m100 spring, got the onsite tech guys to fit it, still fired at 116 mps, so he brought a m90 spring and once fitted it was ok to use .
Now this was purchased from a very big UK airsoft shop.
1, are they allowed to supply said hot guns as 120+ mps is over 370 fps thus making this a section 5 firearm?
Should he be able to claim back the costs 2 springs and labour paid to use his gun and 1/2 his walking fee?
2,Also said (or un said) airsoft shop only guarantee there guns for 6 months if worked.on by there own engeneers. Has this now invalidated his warranty?

I doubt he will get a penny back for the costs. If the site advertises the gun at X FPS and the gun arrived at X+30FPS then he may stand a chance based on good will but nothing guaranteed.

Warranties vary from retailer to retailer so you'd have to check with them, probably on their website. Alternatively just put a call into them and ask, obviously don't mention your name.

warranty will be invalid and he will not get a penny back.

most guns sold that say 350 fps are just for estimates. My CYMA AK came out of the box 375 fps using .2s!!

It is not a section 5 firearm!

i assume you are refering to the lethality RECOMMENDATIONS that are not enshrined into UK law. I recommend you don't run with scissors, but it is not illegal!

Most retailers will say somewhere in their T+Cs that all fps are estimates and as i am sure you are aware it is the owners responsibility to ensure it is site legal. If your conversation went along the lines of:

"i want this gun, it must fire under 350fps to use at my site" and they sent you one firing at 370fps you could have had something sorted as it was not fit for purpose.

If you said "i want that one" and it came a 370fps, you are kinda stuffed. I suspect your warranty is worthless now as it has been opened up twice. If the site engineer is recongnised by the shop, they may still honour the warranty as a good will gesture, but they certainly don't have to.

In a nutshell, if you specified an upper fps limit and the gun came hot, you would have cause for complaint. You have now messed with it and burnt all legal bridges. If you did not specify an upper limit, more fool you!

Hardley opened up tbh, these have a quick change spring feature for both the ebb and piston spring.
As for asking for a set fps, idk like I said I'm posting up on this forum for a friend, I was not there when he orders it.
Thanks for your comments il tell him he's been mugged as his warranty on his brand new £300+ gun is void because it was supplied over any UK site fps limit.

You catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar.......

Get him to explain his situation to the shop, warts and all. Ask them to contact the engineer who fitted the spring. The professional side of airsoft (as in owners, not "pro" players ) is quite a tight community and there is a good chance they know each other. If shop trusts engineer they tell your buddy he is a dick but still honour the warranty. They may of course just wash their hands of the situation all together!

The crux of it is - did your buddy specify a desired maximum fps? Regardless of what has happened, if the shop failed to provide and is now refusing to help in anyway, publicly oust them!
