How to take out half full Co2 cartridge?

I just got my new CO2 pistol and I'm wondering how I should get the Co2 cartridge out when it's half full, do I need to shoot until it's empty? I know leaving it is bad.

Unscrew the screw that you used to install it?

It's not bad to leave it installed. It wasn't in my air rifle anyway.

Simply:

undo the base until it starts to leak and let it leak out
fire it until empty
depress the valve on the mag by hand (with the top of the mag facing away from you and others)

Thanks for the advice, just shooting it will annoy neighbours etc.
