  • systema revolution gearbox, any good?

    hey guys,
ive only just seen this type of gearbox online, and on face value it looks pretty awesome. ecu in a stantard v2 gearbox, good idea rite? im just wondering if is worth me spending the money on one to beef up my g&p m4. have any of you guys owned one, and if so, how do you rate it? also, what kind of fps will i be expecting from the m110 model? ive been told that the only hop that works with it is the systema one, which i already have installed, but im not too fond of. will it work with a marui hop as well, or better yet a madbull ultimate hop? any information on the subject would be great, cheers lads

I was thinking of getting one when I was doing up my AEG, and from my research my general feeling is they are not worth it.

The try to replicate the PTW in a standard V2 gearbox. They don't use standard parts, so your only choice of spares is the Systema stuff and it's expensive. Also you can't do a long burst.

I've not owned one, so perhaps a owner will chip in with experiences.

From memory, it does use a tappets plate, instead the piston is connected to the nozzle. When the piston is drawn back it also brings the nozzle back. On this connection there is a o-ring, and if you do a long burst that o-ring gets trashed.

Again, this is only from memory so I might be wrong, and I know we have a few Systema revolution gearbox users here so hopefully one of them will give you some first hand information.

BTW in case you are interested, in the end I went for a Prowin CNC'd split gearbox for my build.

looks good. how are you finding that gearbox then? ive just now had a little look at them, very nice design. it seems i would need to buy a set of gears separately, standard or otherwise? and is that all i would need to get it working?

They are nice gearbox's to own and have owned one myself and gave up with it, they are very temperamental and when they go wrong they are a bugger to get going again and as already mentioned not cheap to replace parts on. The piston and piston head work in the same was as the ptw does. and they can also be a bugger to set up with a hop unit that works perfectly with them.

Personally you can build a much better spec gearbox for alot less money (if u was to buy the revo gearbox new) that will be more reliable, if you want the trigger response of the revolution or ptw, then get your self a ASCU will be money much better spent. Or hell even just buy a TM Recoil for same kinda money lol

I created a thread about why I made the gun I did, and how I'm finding it, it's here if you want to read it....

Plus the Higher rated boxes DMR suited boxes use 4 gears and a Magnum Motor that spins in reverse.

                  So to summarise, they're:
                  Temperamental
Hard to get working after going wrong
                  Expensive to maintain
                  Hard to set up
                  Have compatibility issues
                  Expensive for what they are

And yet despite all that are "nice to own" ??

                  :p

Personally i would advise waiting for the new ASCU and AS-Hop instead
