Re: Ideal Sniper Back-up Weapon
tm mk23 socom, carrying an aeg is to much when sniping properly.
i use my side arm when i get close and cant use my rifle, due to MEDs and not generaly because ive been bumped.(if you are your not sniping properly)
aegs are to big,get in the way to much and are LOUD, which destroys the thing a sniper relys on most concealment.

You seem like a very Knowledegeable sorta guy. Do they make a holdster for the Scorpion???
I mean a standard belt or leg holdster not on a vest.
My Scorpion is holstered in a Czech holster that fits on a belt and also has a shoulder strap. It's a gash colour though

My primary is as stated a SPR MOD O, then a CA m15a4 CQBR with EoTech as a backup and a western arms 1911 on my leg. It's a slow setup but gets me to a "camp"ing spot.
The beauty of two AR's is I only need one mag type.
hang on a sec, im a bit confused, didnt you say your back up is a M16? lol, isnt that like way bigger than your primary? why just take extra mags and extra batts? of have i missed something here? LOL :p
I apologize for anything that might pxss you off

Re: Ideal Sniper Back-up Weapon
TM mk23 for shots inside engagement range and a colt 1911 for when needs must
When I have sniped I'm in full ghille suit and a full auto backup would give me away so if someone gets close I lay still, wait for them to pass and then take a shot when the have moved out of engagement range with my rifle or if i need to take the shot i use the mk23 which is very quiet
I find if you have a full auto your too tempted to use it and thus defeat the idea of sniping

Re: Ideal Sniper Back-up Weapon
I think i might get the JG Skorpion for my back up weapon. Then go for a decent pistol when i can afford one.
All the reviews on the JG Skorpion that i have seen were good ones.

Re: Ideal Sniper Back-up Weapon
Don't get seen and you won't need one, but if that fails you can't fault the firepower of an MP5K PDW with the folding stock to help maintain accuracy even when you have to go loud.

Re: Ideal Sniper Back-up Weapon
I don't personally see how people can carry a SMG or similar for a backup, when 95% if the time you'll be lying prone. Surely a anything on your back would be hard to get to a firing posistion quickly if you're lying down? Fair enough if you take it off before you hunker down and conceal it within reach, but that's still alot of frigging around when you're supposed to keep sharp movements to a minimum.
For this reason, my back-up is my Detonics .45, Small and compact. Perfect.
