  • SCR, yay or nay?

i've seen a site thats selling SCR AEG's, looking to see what peoples opinions are on them, people who've used them or own them.

i've only ever seen 1, an oldish one, ak beta, with fake wood plastic vertical foregrip and and a 47u folding stock, used to be able to get it on zero one. as i say, never saw it shoot, but looked ok, if very plastic.

but, these new ones are all metal and wood, and i'm interested in the SRC RPK, its wood, metal and is basically an old skool 47 based RPK, with the cone flash hider etc, would be great for my VC kit. oh, and its only £300 squids.

so, anyone got one, whats the low down on them?

The website you have seen have bought a job lot of Gen 2 SRC's on the cheap.

I know I asked them (that they are Gen 2 guns, I only assume they got them cheap)

They were also quite upset that so many people were emailing and asking the same question.

        BUSTED!

Apart from the uninformed, who in their right mind would want a Gen 2 now that there are Gen 3's availible? Silly retailers.

hmmm, well the U.S websites have the AEG i'm interested in at 390 dollar, and the uk site has them at 300 stirling which more or less converts, if not a little higher on our end, think i'll phone the uk retailer myself too tbh.

                Re: SCR, yay or nay?

I was after a gen 2 SRC rpk, but was unfortunately sent a gen 1 SRC RPk from an animal based retailer. The gun was fine, but all the other bits were rather horrible plastic. Was returned for a full refund. I had read quite a few reviews on the Gen 2 RPK on a US based sales site, so was happy to take the plunge and purchase one, but like I said ended up with the wrong version. Gen 3's were pretty much non existant and rumoured but no one had them in stock anywhere, even the Phillapines which seem to have everything early. Still absoloutly nothing wrong with the gen2's at all, and if the price is right who can complain?

I did a bit more digging and tunred up the Cyma 051 RPK, full metal and wood, based off a Polish version of the RPK. Was firing rather hot as had been upgraded, but the shop did a downgrade for free (well had to buy the spring). Now fires at 340
Came with a 1k hi cap bakalite mag, the drum mag is by battleaxe and fits a after a bit of persuasion.

If I could have got a gen2 SRc then I would have been happy, but I am also very happy with my choice of Cyma, and she gets her first skirmish in a couple of weeks.

WOW! Didn't realise the CYMA was out due to the China factory shutdown

                        Re: SCR, yay or nay?

Boris, pm on the way as it is not a z1 link. She truly is lovely, real wood, real metal, very nice build quality! The place I got it from got a container out before shutdown and sold half of it within the 1st week they got stock!

only thing I would say is that some of the paint finish is a bit thin. I have had a couple of scratches already with the bipod rubbing on the barrel, but have fixed that with a bit of velcro round the dummy cleaning rod. Also the fire selector was a little bit loose, but has been fixed with a little bit of bending. Got a chrono sheet with the guarder 90 spring in it and it is firing 340-345 over their test shots.
